  • I am after a beautiful stem. Must fit a 1inch fork with an Ahead (not threaded )headset so all that seem to be available is the MTB style clamp ons. Trouble is I want something that looks like a beautiful classic quill with a decent drop and I don't know if anything even exists. Found a conversion for the other way round - quill to clamp on but clamp on to quill? Help!

  • dunno, most beautiful machining is the Chrome Thomson, could run a 20 degree one upside down perhaps?

  • only option is something like the nitto ahead

  • ew? ^^

  • Llewellyn?

  • ^still ugly front loaders

  • only option is something like the nitto ahead

And these are aesthetically pleaseing in what way exactly?

  • ha, not to me :)

    but they are "quill like"
    with the required decent drop

  • those VO arent terrible,
Balki is winning though, next question from OP is
"do they haz other colourz match my paint job?"

  • As good looking as a stem needs to be.

  • i personally think thomsons are pig ugly and overbuilt

*even though i use one at the mo, until i get my custom Demon jobbie

  • i had one custom built by ricky at feather cycles - he's bloomin amazing

+1 thomson are oogly - never been a fan

  • i was gonna use feather, but he only fillet brazes, i want tigged

  • Thanks guys. That Llewellyn looks the job, if they are still out there. Joint 2nd up is the nitto ahead if they do chrome with Rickys.

  • There's a much nicer nitto one than those...^^^^^ looks as nice as that one tilover has - how beautfiful does a stem need to be? I think lugs and paint on stems is fucking naff.

  • Rivendell.

You can get a lugged nitto stem.

But yeah, Tilover's stem is by far the best looking on this thread.

  • This thread is well Ann Summers innit.

  • also depends on how much you are willing to pay, a custom stem, plainly filleted or brazed is gonna be about 80/100, that lewelyn will be about 200

    1 1/8 not 1".
