Driver was arrested and charged with multiple counts of manslaughter.
Yes, manslaughter; not some mamby-pamby 'causing death by dangerous driving' bullshit like we get here.Yeah, in the last few years in Italy thanks to the wonderful Berlusconi government foreigners(especially the not whites), occasional criminals and small criminals get charged very severely...

The driver is a Moroccan Immigrant, that means deep shit in Italy.
Won't help the already difficult situation to any non-white citizens,
particularly in southern Italy... WAC.And yes, the unfortunate devilish propaganda brought upon cannabis is
truly unnecessary.... Hundreds of people get killed daily for drunk driving,
still alcohol doesn't even get contested...
RIP -

Our club on the wirral knew many of the riders in Rhyl Rc plus i have lost two family members in road accidents . You should realise that this cold blooded murder in Italy will have a deep effect right through all of the families and friends.
Its hard to comprehend the untold misery that this stoned driver has caused.
Italians love there bikes far more than we do in the uk,.
Finally name calling is very low and disrespectfull at this sad time.

similar incident happened a few weeks ago in NZ too.
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10688580sad stuff all round.
Unfortunately there is a massive problem with general attitudes to cyclists from drivers in NZ, with a huge amount of blame on cyclists coming from idiotic opinion writers, talkback radio jocks and the general public (same old shit about road tax, RLJing, cycle lanes etc). As well as terrible drivers. Be very careful if cycling in NZ, it makes the UK look like a cycling paradise.
RIP - a dreadful thing to happen.
