Wicks, which are you better at spinning or mashing? Choose the gearing that means you do the most of what you are worst at!
Alternatively ride 2 bikes on different days, one spinny and one mashy.
Back on topic, the biggest problem with this weather is getting my bike out, as the locks on the garage freeze.
I'd swap frozen toes for riding through a winter wonderland any day of the year.
