There's a setting somewhere that changes the rate of data recording from every second to umm, longer. that can give you a little more battery time.

It doesn't really change the battery life but does effect the internal memory storage a bit.
My experience is the same as others 8-9 hours with the screen brightness on, up to 14 with it off.
