Wanted: 49/51cm track frame

Posted on
  • I'm looking for a 49-51cm track frame for my girlfriend.
I've been looking for a bike for her for months but she's so fussy it’s a nightmare, so in the slim chance anyone has one that would be spot on If not then keep me in mind if you see one in the near future.

I don’t have a certain budget and at this point I don’t care what name it has to it, just looking for something nice, preferably with 'fancy' lugs and no digs or dents etc!

51cm is the absolute maximum the seat tube can be, not even .5 bigger will do

would consider a road frame if all else fails

  • hey, probably not what youre looking for but im selling a frame in this thread:

no "fancy lugs" and geometry is more road than track, but it's a solid frame in good condition and has track dropouts

  • Yeah not really what I'm after, cheers anyways!

  • no worries

  • Top tube length should be a larger concern than seat tube length when looking for a bike like this. If she has to have the seat slammed on a road/track style frame it will definetely be too big, bit of a no brainer.

Sounds like you should be looking for something with 650c wheels.

  • She’s got a road bike at the moment (50cm, with 700c wheels) which she’s ridden for about a year, she’s got a 30 inch inside leg, seat post being around 3 inches out of the frame which is fine for her and feels completely comfortable on it.

However as soon as she gets on a bike which is a few centimetres bigger she feels uncomfortable, she’s the type of person that wont ‘get used to it’ if it’s not perfect she won’t use it.

    Suggestions?

  • Its the top tube length that matters most - how long is the TT on her road bike?

  • top tube is 55cm

  • That's quite long for such a small frame... I rather think that a cm on the ST and two cm off the TT would be of benefit.

    +1

I have a 30" inside leg but am comfortable on bikes up to 58cm seatubes. But I need a 52cm top tube!

Current frame is 56 seat tube which I would say is closer to the optimal height as it gives me a low standover height.
