  • brockley is up the turd

  • No grit here.
Never is, only on the main road but that gets traffic 24/7 so never really ices over anyway

  • North of the river was dissapointingly dry on my way in today, not seen any snowfall either. Unless people have been out chucking water down, I fear a cold yet uneventful ride home coming on.

  • brockley is up the turd

I hate riding a bike up those fucking hills in the dry let alone on days like this... Hope you're on the train, dude...

  • yemen - i didn't get in until nearly 12. i did get to see robb, dt and the lovely hops as i froze my goolies off at the station.

    i'm staying at a mate's tonight.

  • yakutsk in siberia experiencing -55 centigrade currently
    don't lean
don't even leave the house more like

  • How the fuck can the capital of the sixth richest nation on earth grind to a fucking halt because of 3 inches of snow?

Simple: Decades of under-investment and wrongly-prioritised investment in transport combined with appalling land use planning.

  • had the measuring stick out, did we andy?

    hehe

    muthinfuckin right y'all

  • i think other countries just don't moan as much as we do

To be honest we very rarely get significant snowfall. Maybe a couple of days a year on average do things come to a standstill. If we had epic winters as in countries like Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Russia etc we'd be much better equipped and wouldn't mind spending the money to be more prepared.

  • Still not an excuse for any of the above. :)

  • Yesterday morning - I was quite surprised when the domain kicked in within about two hours so it was up and running by lunchtime! .com was too expensive

    RSS feed?

  • @wibble - I agree with you, but we only had a few inches of snow yesterday and, once again, London's local authorities failed to grit the roads and clear the snow meaning everything ground to a halt. It's not like this was a shock is it, snow hit the north and the far south west at the weekend. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that it might head this way too.

  • I feel sorry for all those people who must have slipped and broken bones today

  • I blame the condems. Has anyone said that yet?

  • Because it's inhabited by shandy-swilling Southern posho wusses.. and some well 'ard foreigners.

I know you won't mind me fixing this.

  • Be careful everyone who has to ride home, I suspect most of the side roads will be like this so take extra care, there's no way anything without studded tyres wouldn't spill over on here right now.

    Trackie bike handling fail.

Come on Rob, you used to ride bmx ffs.. you just need to avoid the lean.. don't lean!

  • Do a De Ketele, Rob (many times over)!

  • everyone was calling me a pansy for worrying about ice yesterday - now look at you all. Pansies.

  • I saved a slip this morning. Well proud, I was. Going round a tight corner which is paved with brick, and was covered in ice. All I could think was "Don't lean! Don't lean!" and before I knew it, the front slipped a little, followed by the back. I man-wrestled it back and stayed on. And then let out out a blood curdling banshee-man scream to affirm my victory over the elements.

  • Nice one :)

That feeling of going right to the edge but coming back through pure man power is such a winner

  • yep. last time it snowed I came off like a proper pansy though. That was with a freewheel though. Cycling this morning I only realised I was on some icy patches when a forward pedal stroke would slip a little...fffuuuu. Luckily it was a straight road....

  • Can the south-east borrow some please?

For serious man! What's the deal with SE?
everyone i know north of the river is having no problems with ice whatsoever practically, but down by us it's KILLER.
i had to get off and walk quite a lot today.
    south-easters, watch out.

  • What's that? There's no grit down in the badlands?
