-
• #330
never hear off, but you could start it...

I might come down to the next session? when is it?
-
• #332
you should probably bring some long sleeves.

Anyone need a cheap 48h wheelset? We can potentially order some from a supplier for £90 a pair (freewheel only), it'd be good to have some input from beginners about whether you're even keen to go down the 48h route, etc:

Hi,
I'm Michael, from Switzerland. I'm new here, and I wanna know if you're playing polo in the Hoxton area. If yes, where are you paying and which days?
I'm coming here in London a few times annually and wanna ride fixed.
Thanks for your answers.

Hi Michael, check this thread for polo in North/East London
https://www.lfgss.com/thread6372-223.html#post1882164
Usually people play Tuesday and Thursday nights and then either Saturday or Sunday at weekends, it;s best to check the thread to find out exactly when people are playing though as it can change week to week at short notice.

Hi Moog,
Thank you.

there's some slang in these beginners threads that I don't understand, and that are kinda pivotal to a beginner going to try polo for the first time. If I've got these wrong then I'm gonna look like a right fool...are these the correct meanings? using the forum search (UTFS) is flawed with two-character words.
throw-ins: non league friendly game
BM: bench minor a* substitute, or I guess in the case of these threads, a beginner?*
T-boning: side impact collisionplease correct as appropriate, thanks!

throw-ins: is any informal game, just x numbner of mallets to the middle, shuffle and play
BM: bench minor is a new format of game, take it from ice hockey, you have 8 or 10 players per team, that rotate to play a normal 3x3
T-boning: *side impact collision, making the shape of a T

*Nb, the descision of which part of the t is at fault is more or less moot when starting out... So it's just as bad form to stop infront of someone (creating the top on the T) as it is to ram someone.

Hey Tash,
All will become crystal clear once you go to polo also. Hope I'll be seeing you on Tuesdays then! (I can give you that other stuff if you still need it too ;) ) -
• #342
Yeah this, the majority of us turned up to our first game without knowing the rules! :)

I'm a journalism student looking to try out bike polo for an experience feature I'm doing. Anyone know of anything I could get involved in this week?

Thanks a lot for that. Pick up would be great but Thursday's difficult. What sort of time would it be?
Sorry to be a pain. Next week's no good, as deadline's Tues night.
Thanks for your help though. -
• #348
i'm sure there will be pick up on saturday
-
• #349
Pick up is normally around 6.30/7pm until 9pm, if you read the threads in the polo forum all the information is there.
Moral of the story, do you're homework earlier

Sorry, working on a very tight deadline, we don't get a lot of time to sort these things out. Also, kind of overwhelmed by all of the threads/ info up here, so starting in a few obvious places.
