• As a new addition to the Michaelmas Fare at St Marylebone CE School, we have teamed up with Rollapaluza, to bring roller racing to a new generation. Principally, we want to encourage racing in a safe and fun environment for our girls with head to head races over 500m..

There will however be an open competition for adults racing over 1km with some great prizes in a draw for all competitors:-

    Rapha long sleeve jersey
    Rapha breton jersey
    Rapha belgian cap

Plus silent auction for signed copy of book and DVD of Ben Ingham's brilliant short film D'Acciaio, plus DVD of Nick Livesey's A Throw of the Dice and DVD of Adrian Moat's Two Broad Arrows all seen recently at the Bicycle Film Festival, trailers here:-

  • LMNH have donated caps as prizes for the kids.. much love to the LMNH guys

  • how did this go?
some results and good times to share?

  • This was a very successful event, many Year 07,08 and 09s competing as well as parents and teachers. RP will be posting results soon, so I will share with you all. Was you there? Looking at bring RP back for the Summer Fair as everyone is asking for more roller racing. i clocked 26.88secs over 500m, fastest adult time around 22/23 secs, but the kids were the real champions, all shapes and sizes wanting to have a go which is so positive, in a world where kids (esp. teenagers) generally get alot of stick. This was the perfect environment for them to try something new. RPM was there so hoping for future events and involvement.

Our Michaelmas Fair raised +£12,000 on the day for the school, with about over £5K on the raffle alone. Top prize included Apple iPad (wi-fi), £150 Topshop vouchers, £100 Primark vouchers, west end theatre tickets. plus a few silent auction prizes from signed books, Man U vs Arsenal tickets.. it was buzzing and happy place. I have a few letters to write thanking those who supplied gifts and prizes. from Rapha to LMNH - best Al

thanks to Caspar and Anna for making it a great event - Al

  • nice one there, lots of involvement, a day they wont forget in a long time.
every school should get this at some point during the year.

  • Interesting , my daughter visted it was last week as a possible 6th form. I shall let her know.

we're getting there, Rollapaluza have visited 70 schools in the last 12 months...

  • yeah good to know, without fellating you too much,
giving them the chance to participate is what makes an absolute difference,
Ive a feeling that the B.M.X crews will wither a bit next year, there simply wont be the money around to blow on a hall full of watchers,
whilst you can keep impressing upon people the involvement aspect of Rolla which is what give you your USP (check out my marketing skills)

  • thanks for that, we had 296 kids take part in one session on the four up rig recently....hope to be down your way again soon.

  • @Winston,
I always knew this was going to be a great event, because it was new, exciting and requires participation by the students. The Headteacher and I (PTA Secretary) were first on.. leading by example, the girls were hooked from that moment onwards. The queues never ended, Anna didn't get a break, Caspar MC'd, time kept and controlled it all.

it was the perfect storm on fixed wheel bikes.. Paul, maybe 4 bike rig next time with gazebo in the playground (i'll keep you posted)

@*M.F cheers mate, we may get them to try out BMX and cyclocross, too..

    @Peter Carter,
St Marylebone CE School, excel in most things academically. As a parent / PTA Secretary, I am so proud at what our girls achieve. Best of luck with getting into 6th Form, hopefully see you on the rollers for the Summer Fair..

    best always
    Alan
