  • Ahh, physics, my nemesis.

Ok, boys and girls, this could well be one for the Spring...

At the time I wrote the first post the weather was decidedly autumnal. Now it's bloody cold and I'm teetering on the brink of wimping out.

If you can face catching a train before 9am on what looks to be a very wintry Sunday then this one should get you to Kelvedon leaving an hour and a half to cycle before the tide cuts the island off - maybe pushing it depending on how strong a group of riders we have and directions/topography etc - I don't know that area at all.

    Outbound:
08:27 London Liverpool Street [LST] - Kelvedon [KEL]09:37

Then an hour or so lunch and exploring followed by a slightly more relaxed pace cycle back to catch this one before the light gives out on us.

    Return:
15:01 Kelvedon [KEL] - London Liverpool Street [LST]16:14

Bizarrely the return is only £17 with the single costing £38.

Alternatively there's one that arrives a bit later in the morning meaning by the time we get the island the tide should have gone out.

10:25 London Liverpool Street [LST] - Kelvedon [KEL]11:37

But this'll significantly cut down on lunch time...

One other thing to note is that as Lardboy said earlier, the kelvedon train doesnt stop at Liverpool Street, despite National Rail saying otherwise. I've phoned and spoken to one person who says it does and spoke to a guard there the other day who says it doesn't...

They're not making it easy for us.

As for the weather, BBC and Met are suggesting:

    Monday 29 November 2010 to Sunday 5 December 2010
    Snow becomes more widespread
Snow cover is likely to be more widespread by the end of the week. This means that once the biting easterly winds die down by the weekend, overnight temperatures are likely to fall to exceptionally low levels once again under clearing skies.
    Monday 6 December 2010 to Sunday 12 December 2010
    A wintry mix looks likely
Into the new week, it will remain very cold for many with further snow showers likely, especially around some coastal areas, and widespread overnight frosts.

Basically, don't hold your breath of this happening! :(
