yep, i agree. there was no need to try and win that match.

Funny how all the Aussies have piped down suddenly, isn't it?
This one was offline in Ghent.
I've not heard a score since the first or second day. -

that's because most of them don't actually like cricket or even understand it, its just another rod to beat the English with.
Know many of the 20 million then?
All the English are whingers.

• #555
So, who's winning?

No a handful is enough for me.
I was referring to those on here, not all know their googly from a yorker.

yes!
-
• #558
Who is winning is complicated. It's a draw but engerland have the upper hand as they retain the ashes if the series is drawn, Australia have home advantage though. :-)
-
• #559
It didn't seem like a home game for Australia yesterday.

Though Ponting's Jap's crackers are on the chopping block if he doesn't get this show on the road. No win at the Gabba is a very poor start for the Aussies, although obviously there's a long haul ahead yet. Batting to a draw there like that was a win for England though, and no mistake.

We now must have three of the most confident top order batsmen. And what our second innings performance will have done to the confidence of the aussies is anyones guess, as well as them now being worried about the cometancy of their captain

*Jatz Crackers
Bad start for us...Adelaide groundskeeper said it looks like a flat batting track.

At least we didn't lose at the Gabba.
The strip was a bloody shirtfront I reckon that a decent club cricketer would have been difficult to shift on that, after lunch on day 2. Anywho our bowling looks a bit better than theirs. Its going to be the side that cracks first and then has to wrestle the foot of thier throat, which will decide the result of the series. In my view it will be Perth Melbourne and Sydney which will decide the fates. The Austrailian press dont like Punter much do they ! - oh well not for us to worry about

EDIT: i wrote this thinking you were aussie :-)
are you serious?
take the blinkers off for a second, 500+ for 1 wicket has only ever happened once before in test cricket. a flat pitch is not the whole story, good batting and impotent bowling have a part to play too.did you see those wayward balls from Johnson?
maybe you should take a leaf out of your fellow countryman Ian Chappel's book for a more objective view

^ The compilation of Johnson's bowling and batting was horrendous to watch.
Even Harmison was feeling sorry for him.

aus lack the spearhead bowler that anderson has become for england. the quality of bowler in that position has progressively been getting worse since glenn mcgrath retired. without a bowler that can consistently bowl well from one end for a whole morning/afternoon, you can't use the other end to attack/put pressure on the batsmen, and johnson has been poo for ages. i don't understand how he has kept his spot for so long.
i don't mean to take anything away from the poms - 1 for 500-odd is no mean feat against any attack.
-
• #567
MrSmyth - I am not Austrailian as you say. Does it not become clear at the end of the post?
It's a guess but if they put another performance like that together at Adelaide the Aussie media will really start - oh they love a winner.
The pitch was massively important but your right their bowlers do look less skilful than ours

It's 500 for 1 FFS!

piss off.

heh!

Only the second time 500/1 has ever appeared in a first class scorebook.
I like Mitchell. Gives me hope that I might open the attack in a test match at some point.

and then see a first class flounce when it doesn't go well
^trippin.
giving a 2nd innings target of much less than can be suicide. Strauss knows what to do, this is a 5 match series, we should take as many draws as we like.
Balki was joking btw
