Sure, but even after playing no more than 25 games in NYC, I've come inches from people swinging their mallets backwards for slap-shots, and the subsequent followthrough.

yeh, sydney had gone through undefeated, and melbourne had come from the losers' - but then they only played one final... outrage ensued, especially from the drunker crowd members.

that was a 'you've got nothing, melburn' heckle - which, in time you will see, they do not.

double elim? was it mentioned before a single game had been played? if not and only when the final game is on then that is whack.

yesss, was just having this convo with a friend at the weekend..

basically it all comes down to an agreement before the championships to 'play by brisbane rules' and that standard worldwide or euro rules or what have you were irrelevant because a) the nationals weren't feeding a wider championships, and b) the nationals were being played in brisbane, thus by brisbane rules... (so this covered everything from the non-half court, rush the goal type rule, to goal size, to mallet hacking etc etc)

there was sort of a tacit implication that next year 'proper' standard rules would be adhered to, but there was no point changing the rules 2 weeks before the nationals..

arguments ensued, but everyone kind of acquiesced to this in the end, because it seemed easier...

with regards to the goals, they were too small, even by our home court standards. but sometimes people just please themselves.
