  • at least just over? three weekends; three tournaments.

    +1

  • I'm coming...

You're a regular world groupie now (me too), so why not!

  • With first place going to Dutch Cosmic? I like this plan.

A cosmic will take 1 and 2 spot

Here's a possible euro qualies format idea...

    • All countries with big scenes (UK/France/Germany) have own country euro qualies champs to decide top teams.

    • All smaller scenes which are scattered around europe enter a consolidated qualies tourney to decide top teams (a non big scene city has to step up to host).

    • At euros on day before finals, theres a small wild card tourney for any team which a) didnt previously qualify b) couldnt make regional qualies c) are new. This keeps things still inclusive and gives as many teams as possible the opportunity to qualify, yet with the overall qualified standings being the best teams + a few wild cards.

  • ^ that seems like a really good solution to me MAT

And what happens if a "small" scenes gets "big"?

    • All smaller scenes which are scattered around europe enter a consolidated qualies tourney to decide top teams (a non big scene city has to step up to host).

Then "small scenes" will have to travel from denmark to spain for a quali torunament? or in the other way?

  • The North Americans divide their continent up into a number of regions and then have a tourney within those regions. This seems the fairest to me. Within regions there could be a bidding process, voting process, or whatever, to decide the location.

Basically if you want to play the Euros and/or Worlds you should plan to travel to at least one regional tourney. Maybe the people who can't/don't want to travel will get luck and their town will get to host the regional tourney.

  • +1 to Jono and Chukker

  • It's possible I just repeated what Jono already said. Sorry.

  • But the regiuonal tournaments will havhe to be open to all entrants surely, as the UK champs was etc, so one tourney will have to incl. all of UK, France and Germany? that's a lot of teams?

  • Woody, if L'Equip, Bambule, Toros and El Club, going to the first one, I will not go.... I would rarther go to the second one, or the third one....
    Also first came, first serve..

  • @ losmanguis... I only gave those examples - im not saying they are the only countries with big scenes. Polo is growing fast, so I expect other countries to begin having big scenes soon.

My point is that if the euro finals works on only allowing the best teams in based on a country allocation process...then the countries with big scenes will need to hold some kind of country/city qualification tourney (like last year) to learn which teams will take spots. But inorder to keep the allocation process fair across countries where there are less or perhaps weaker teams, then a consolidated european qualies tourney could be considered as a way to confirm the remaining best team spots. As previously said, a city would have to step up to host that tourney.

My opinion is that both the worlds and euros should be tournies with the best teams along with a wild card tourney to keep things inclusive as well as give teams a second chance to qualify.

actually this isn't true, as it causes many of the same problems as national borders. we will ensure that the qualifying tournaments are regionally spread out, but you can play at any of them.

we've divided up by regions only in order to ensure a somewhat geographically representative group of people who are making decisions.

  • Like the national and local divisions for spots, dividing Europe into four seperate areas could have the same missmatching.

The problem of teams in large areas not getting places is answered by the Wildcard tourney. If you should be in the euro's you'll be able to get in through wildcard.

There is no real reason to go this new system, except to exclude small burgeoning scenes.

  • Like the national and local divisions for spots, dividing Europe into four seperate areas could have the same missmatching.

It solves one problem by not having geographic based restrictions on entry to a tournament.

  • There is other options to go trought the origin probleme.
For example, change the rule about the "you need 2 guys from town to get a ticket", by "you need 1 guy from town". (town or country etc...)

By the way, im still against the total opening of NA and EHBPC. How could we prevent the fact of having three time a year a big tourney who look like the other.
Hypothetical example in a smaller situation:
Open national swiss champs, Toros come, final : Equipe-toros
Open national german champs, l'Equipe come, final: Toros-Equipe

  • meanwhile polosynthese instead of toros ;)

  • eventually, i bet we'll probably phase out NAHBPC and EHBPC, and just have a World Championships and buttload of kickass tournaments. but that's an argument to have at a later date.

  • ... however. The Clowns will be travelling NA for hopefully 4-6 weeks. thinking about July-August-September.

    Who wants to join?

  • Im thinking about be in USA during June, July, August and September... We can spend some day wth some clowns!

  • bastards!

  • It solves one problem by not having geographic based restrictions on entry to a tournament.

But the wild card solves that problem.

Why fix the problem twice if the second way is going to adversely effect the growth of the sport?

  • Also first came, first serve..

Then how are we gonna know we have the best team? smaller scenes may not find out about these tourneys in time to get a place, and whilst they are probably not goign to win, who knows? The advantage of natinal championships is the ability to include everyone in each country.
Rather than making everyone in Europe have regional tournaments, how about those countries without enough teams in a national championships make up a pan-Euro championship?

I didn't say that you must live in a region to play in that region's tourney.

    ... of course!
