  • @ciscolo, hover your mouse over the OTP acronym.

    Hey presto.

Works for lots of other things too. But not for HBMF. If you tell me what that stands for, I'll be VERY impressed.

    Hippy bit my foreskin?

  • Does anyone have pictures of the charge plug navy blue with carbon forks. I'd like to see some examples before I commit.

  • I'm trying to imagine it in my head Ed, but I can't.

  • It would look a little like this:

  • can someone explain what does 'blacker than wales' mean, as i've never heard the expression before

  • this is my 'ex' charge plug before it got robbed.... cheap as to build and was so much fun to ride, im like 5'9 and this is a small frame, was perfect for me. I appreciated the charge as it was an easy way to get inolved in the fixie game. so go for it.
Oh and if anyone is selling a nice old crankset or even a crankset of any kind, PM me as i need some bits for my new build.
    Cheers.
sorry, not done yet, but if any one sees this around and about i'd love it if you could let me know. darn thieves. x

Honestly? I has no idea, my mum was raised in Wales as my grandparents moved there from the North of England, the reference of Wales being black as coal seemed to pop up in conversation every now and then, especially when talking to my grandmother after she die for a few minutes.

me -"what is it like after you die?"

gran - "surprisingly, a lots like being in Wales"

Cheers, I've got the black on-one wheelset at the moment with black carbon seat post, if I changed the saddle and bars to black I could imagine it looking quite good.

  • Hi everyone. I've been reading the forum for a while but only just registered. My wife picked-up a second hand Plug of ebay. I'm slowly working up the mileage each week and recently started the 6 mile commute.

I think it's standard stuff that the Plug is heavy brute, but is it a hard ride? Mine has gatorskin tyre, which I know aren't very forgiving, but with the steel rims is this a harsher ride than most single speeds? I certainly notice every road repair on the ride.

  • it doesn't have steel rims.

Just get some fatter tyres (28c, mac I think is 32c).

  • mines a hard ride even with 28s on, still quick enough with 28s tho, change the seat and grips for a bit more comfort, im about too

  • saddle might be a bit too high.

handlebar might be a bit too low/close.

tyre's over 100psi (ideally under that if you want to be comfortable).

  • I find the plug incredibly comfy to ride (due to the geo). Take some of the tips that Ed has given ^^ they will help no end.

If it helps I run gatorskins (25c) tires at 110psi, still have the stock saddle, I fitted drops but have now gone back to bull horns and I'm going to put the stock stem back on with them.

I have changed the wheels though to a planet x wheelset, great choice if you've got some change.

  • I'm 5,11 and have the medium....although it fits me fine and I use it as my trick bike, in retrospect I should have got the small. All my other bikes are sized the same as the small plug and the all feel slightly more maneuverable....

Still best to try for yourself in the shop though

Oh, I was looking exactly this information too. Thanks!

  • Cheers guys. As I'm new to road frames I just wasn't sure, if it was the norm or not. It's definately better being on the roads than footpaths, just without my padded shorts on, I feel every road repair. Not ideally on these cold mornings when you just want to get to work.

I am loving the bike though. I've been amazed how quick it is off the line, maybe not compared to a die-hard road bike, but definately compared to most geared commuters. When I don't have to carry a bag it also flies up most hills. Like people on the fitness thread have discussed, it's the gentle long hills that are the killers. The shorter steeper ones can be taken on.

Regarding the gator skins, one of them failed me on Tuesday and I got a major puncture only a mile into my 6 mile ride home. I tried reinflating in the hope it was a small one but no joy. I then cracked open my new toolkit i got with the bike to find it didn't include a spanner that fitted my wheel nuts >:( I ended up pushing to 2 miles until I reached a petrol garage. They were nice enough to lend be an adjustable spanner. The gator skins did take me 20 mins to get off (but it'll be quicker next time) and took the skin off two of my knuckles.

  • Oh and I'm 6'1" riding a large frame. Don't have the saddle particulae high (maybe 4-5" of the frame) but I think I may need to raise it another inch or two when I'm a bit more confident.

  • Bloody hell im 6 1 and ride a medium fits fine as well!

  • Different body proportion.

  • Although I'm thinking of putting risers/flats onto my charge. Getting bored of bull horns now.

  • Cheers chap just need to get some black bars sorted any ones from lbs should do. I'll POP a picture up when done.

  • New to this and got my Plug a few months back, really like the look of the deep rims, if thats the correct terminology where do I get something like that from?

  • 6ft and medium is fine for me too guys!

  • Am 6' 3 and have a medium.
