• Hi there,

my chain keeps jumping out especially when on bumpy road.

I need to tighten the chain but could do with a pair of chain tugs.

The drop outs are short (about an inch) and semi-horizontal forward facing. (hope picture helps)

Would be grateful if someone had a pair to to get rid of for not too much sheets! Not too keen on introducing my teeth to the pavement in a hurry!!!

Live in Hackney so can collect.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Number6

Checked it out and all seems good.

I have quick release bolts on my rear wheel - will this still work?

DO I need to measure the width of the QR bolts to make sure that the width can accomodate the extra 8mm?

Let me know and I'll do a PayPal transfer / eBay purchase if you prefer.

    Regards

  • sure pm ME. qr should be no prob. but you'll still need 8mm on each side. with QR if your alxes don't stick proud out of the dropouts (i'e' alxe protruding from lock nut is shorter than dropout width. ) then you should be able to tighten these tugs a bit more and have them hold the QR skewer instead of the axle

or fit longer axles (and get longer skewer if need be) and have the tugs hold the alxes like it would on any threaded axle.

3rd option (same kind of thing as longer axles but without removing and sourcing another axle. ), reduce the spacing on the rear axles (take out spacers / washers whatever ) so that now the axles protrude form the dropouts

p.s. looks like you're running a security rear skewer? looks like it hase steel skewer and alloy washers - you might be able to get steell thin washers to replace or giving you more clearance to get the tug in.

    PM me if interested.

p.s. if you're having trouble getting the security skewer tight enough and it's slipping then a good old steel QR axle will hold it better. and clean grease from any mating surfaces.

  • Thanks Number6 for the detailed reply.

    I'll PM you now.
