PJs - I get why you can't do it..... and I hope your back gets sorted in time to make the most of this here festive season.
The Greenwich tunnel being out is a right pain in the arse. I never really go to that part of town (how do people generally get from Tower Bridge to say Milwall w/o cycling along the HWY?), but last night decided to cycle to the O2 from Barbican to watch some tennis.
So I get to the foot tunnel and its closed... turn back to get on a Clipper from Island Gardens across the river.
BOAT 1 would only let 6 bikes on ("thems the rules" the captain said) - I was about number 12 in the que.
BOAT 2 a smaller boat 10 mins later let no bikes on cause he was already carrying 4.
BOAT 3 (by this stage there was about 50 cyclists waiting on the wharf) let as many as reasonably safe on..... chapeau to this dude who used some common sense. So my little 40 min jaunt to the 02 turned into a circa 2 hour mission. If I'd known I was going to have to wait that long for a boat, I would have cycled back to Tower Bridge. £5.30 it costs to cross the farking river. Damn London transport. Damn there not being any ped/cyc
list bridges that far East.
I was a cold, grumpy and late cause of the tunnel being closed. Rant over.
ANYWAYS, I'm down for whatever on Thus. Tron Square would be good.
There are pretty xmas lights around Sloane Sq too - far better than the dancing chillis they put up in Brixton.
