  • Who fancies a wee trip to the velodrome in Manchester?

I did a bit of research on the website and found out the following.....

There are track taster sessions available at these times...

    Saturday 5:00 - 6:00pm

          Sunday 12:00 - 1:00pm
          Sunday 5:00 - 6:00pm

"**Taster Sessions - ** An introductory session for beginners. You will be riding with up to 15 (14 for a schools session) other riders on the track at the same time, for one hour’s duration. You will be given a set of skills to learn by the coach and each rider will be provided with a bike and helmet. The **Taster **sessions are great fun and are one of the most popular track sessions provided, so whether you want to be the next Sir Chris Hoy or Victoria Pendleton, or just curious to see what it’s like to ride round a banked cycle track, this is the session for you. Bring some friends or family for an experience you will never forget."

The basic cost is £9.80 per person which includes bike and helmet.

Another option would be to rent the track for an hour or a couple of hours, cost for this would be £88 per hour.

What's the general consensus? Would anyone definitely be up for this at some point soon?

  • Sounds ideal, don't have to take your own bike. I'm in, subject to 'when?'.

  • Yyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Recommend hiring track for 2 hours - an hour session just isn't long enough and you'll be pissed off that you have to stop just when you're having fun.

  • ill be up for this

  • Renting it to ourselves sounds like a better idea personally, obviously depending on numbers, get a good bit of rivalry going between us all.

  • I'd be up for it.

  • Yeah, I agree. I think we should rent the track for two hours. It's going to cost £175. If we can get 9 people that works out at under £20 per head - I think that's pretty decent value. This calls for a list:

Edit: Probably could get a mate to join too.

  • When hiring do we still use there bikes?

  • Yeah, you can, but it's another £9 on top of track rental charge.

  • Most people will need to hire bikes I'd imagine, pretty strict rules on bike spec.

  • Is there a date in mind yet and how are folk planning to travel there?

  • What about December 19th? I would need to cadge a lift or get the train through. Not really thought that part through...

  • bring on the train like. ROADTRIP.

  • 19th counts me out as I'll be back in Carlisle for the festivities then. Oh well

  • im not really dropping out but just realised today, if its gonna be £30-£40 to hire and 60 odd for the train then i cant do it.... anyone driving?

oh and 19th is also not that great for me either

  • fair enough..... doesn't have to be the 19th. Anyone else got a suggestion for a date? We can wait until after the new year if it's better for everyone.

  • I don't mind driving. February would be best for me. Understand that's a while off though.

  • I'm game but I just checked my funds and I have 60p available. LOLz etc.
