We just don’t have the tipping culture over here. I’ve never tipped for a cheap bite to eat – maybe £20 and above, then I would. Lots of places add on a ‘discretionary’ cover charge, which you can have removed, which covers tips.
Plus, not all tips end up in the hands of the staff anyway, if at all – it’ll go towards overheads like laundry. Some places may give a certain percentage to the staff. Very rare that all tips are equally divided between the people who should benefit from them.
