  • this is now on the other thread and needs to be considered I guess:

    https://www.lfgss.com/post1788896-99.html

thanks for you attempts to get another ride in but from my point of view the 2nd is cancelled.

  • Bugger, CV thoughts?...

  • Princess Diana memorial ride?

  • ^ that looks interesting, though I would prefer a ride that ends up in town - or does it start at Hampton Ct? - Still a bugger to get to from Southgate (N14)

  • Not up for riding to Kingston

  • @Conker, Start at Hampton Court Palace and end up at Regents Park.

@Sumo, it's not that far and this route is quite quick.

  • Is this going ahead?

  • As per Phil's post upthread, he can't get out to properly recce a ride so for now there won't be a re-run (as the original ride won't be going ahead anyway :P). CV has suggested an alternative though so get on board with that you if fancy a spin.

  • As the Thursday ride is off will the possible alternative from Conservative Values still be on the Friday....i'm interested as have booked time off work.

  • Yeah I'll run this. Stay tuned. Need to decide Thursday or Friday.

  • Cool i'll be up for either ...will keep a watch out.

  • Not yet cancelled my Friday pm hols so I'll keep an eye on this thread.

  • Why not do some kind of Compass ride? encourage people to jump on where they like at set times.

Start Trafalgar Square at 9pm, head to South beers pub for 10pm quick pint or whatever, then to Easts to pick up some hipster twats with yellow bikes at 11pm, Norths for midnight up the big bloody hill (maybe race it as roads will be quiet as a mouse), West beers for kebabs at the meat pit around 1am then bridge ride it back to Tower Bridge and call endex around half 2.

It'll be fucking cold as a fucking mother-fucker though so no waiting around, see the caravan and jump on, you get lost and can't find your way home; ask a Policeman or call a cab/your mum...

    Really like this idea.

  • so many good ride ideas coming out. I guess we were all looking forward to London Lights 3/3.1

Alternatively, we could all have a whip-round and by Phil a fuck-off size bottle of deep-heat

  • @Sumo, it's not that far and this route is quite quick.

but getting home in E3 take a good while. Much prefer something that ends up centralish like Conker

Not that anyone'll care a dogs' toss what I think, but I reckon Friday.

  • When: Friday 02/12/10 8:00pm

Where: The Prince of Wales, 23 Bridge Road, Hampton Court, East Molesey, Surrey, KT8 9EU. I will be riding down from the Battersea Arts Centre at Clapham Junction at 7:15 if anyone isn’t confident of finding it.

Route: Very similar to the one I posted up there^ somewhere but will most probably tweak a bit after I’ve tried it.
In short though, we’ll head to Kingston on the Hampton Court Road and past the Palace. Through Kingston to Richmond Park on the Kings road and then the Queens road which are aptly named but also the quickest. Ride clockwise round two sides of the park so we can stop by King Henry’s mount and catch a view of St. Pauls, I’ve not been at night but this is what it looks like in the day. We’ll leave the park by the Roehampton Gate and head to Putney via the Queen’s ride.

Once we’re over the river at Putney we need to head through the Royal Borough to the Albert Hall on the southside of the Hyde park, I’ve not worked out yet whether to take Lillie Road & Old Brompton Road / Fulham Road / Kings Road to get us east. I’ll probably pick the quickest once I’ve recce’d it but will head North on the Queensgate mews.

At that corner of Hyde Park there’s more royal stuff than you can shake a Sceptre at, Albert Memorial, Kensington Palace etc. Then on to Buckingham Palace via the South Carriage Drive through Hyde Park and Constitution Hill where you can pledge your allegiance to the Queen in whatever way you see fit. We can then go via Birdcage walk down Whitehall so we go past the House guard bit. The ride from this point will basically be who can get up Regent’s Street the quickest to Regent’s Park. If anyone can recommend a good pub round here I suggest we finish there. Roughly 18 miles in total which is just what you need on a Friday night to keep you out of the pub for at least a couple of hours and a nice scenic route into London.

I'd like to do the route fairly quick so maybe just one stop at Hyde Park where I'll be selling William and Kate commemorative chamois cream.

I'll get a mod to change the thread title.

    Best,
    Cv
