Would it be hugely cheeky to email Miranda /Claire at the council to see about changing the light times?
Obviously we don't want to push our luck and we're immensely grateful they put them back on, but 9pm is perhaps a little early to finish and we were playing in the dark at the weekend as they come on around 5pm ish I think, and it was too dark by 4pm ish.
I gather the ON button has been over-ridden which is a shame.

9pm is the new standard for London councils to use for courts in residential areas.

You could ask which factors (noise, light pollution, loitering, cost, etc) are important for the decision about Newington's switch off time and then try to formulate a response that could also include the fact that players might be willing to hire the court once a week (or similar).

I imagine you could probably push for a 10pm shut off time fairly easily... this would be revoked as soon as any locals complained though (in my opinion).

I'm willing to do this if people think it's a good idea, Kevin may also be able to shed some light ('scuse the pun) on all things Newington as he has established a good relationship with everyone involved.
