http://www.lfgss.com/thread28244-3.html is the place to look. The main obstacles seem to be a) getting hold of a sewing machine that is heavy duty enough to use with thick fabric/tarp material etc. & b) getting hold of said material. Bet there are plenty of treasure troves in the sticks around here.

Pissed the Banjo one is a rucksack. Much prefer using one commuting over a messenger bag. But once I live in the city I will probably use a messenger bag.

Sweet. Well gimme some ideas and I shall see what I can do... Material is no problem... I can get it no problems...

Always think covering the base of the bag with something hard wearing and wipe clean is a good plan, the bottom of my timbuk2 is mucky as fuck. Could be another good use for old tyres? Or else something rubberised or maybe even leather?

Scotchlite piping/chevrons is always a good idea - or that new stuff that is black in normal light but high viz in headlights.
Plenty of different pockets & compartments, hangers for bag-mounted leds etc..

Don't actually like the idea of loads of different pockets and compartments on the inside of the bag, perhaps have a pocket on the outside of the bag for all your organised stuff.
Keep the main compartment nice and empty, how annoying is it when you try to fill a bag but you can't because there's a divider in the way.

Yeah or water proofed 1000 dernier cordura? I can get hold of some army material, which is hard wearing and water proof. Would totally rape a standard sewing machine though! Plus you would end up looking like GIJoe (olive green army suprlus look, not good)!

I'd be fine with Olive green mate, would look good with the bib shorts and jersey!!

If you want another project, I fancy one of those D-lock holsters. Could probably get an old seatbelt or two, depends how powerful your new sewing machine is going to be!

Do it.... Get me some seat belts and I shall make one for ya. Will need the messurements of ya d lock too and I shall sort it for ya... That will be easy peasy!

Ok design done. Gonna borrow a sewing machine. Just need some seat belt material...

Mine's got one big compartment but with 4 or 5 small pockets on the front inside and a couple outside (under the flap). Find them very useful to keep things that I don't want to get scratched, bent or squashed separate from the random detritus that gathers in the main bit.. but each to their own. Good thing about getting a custom bag made I guess!

My Crumpler has about 12-15 pockets, one large compartment and one smaller one. I can fit the world in there. But without that divider it would be even better.

Got four seatbelts worth, will bring them on Fri and measure up the lock (Krypto Fahgeddaboutit)

Hahaha sweet. Picking up a load of seatbelts on Saturday too... Thanks guys. I think the Kryptonite lock is a 14cm outside to outside measurement. Check that for me and we shall go from there... Will speak about it on Friday...

Good Job... Keep creating... You got a sewing machine or was it done by hand? My next project is polo straps.

My mate's got one, I used it to stitch the pouch at the bottom but the straps ect were done by hand, bit tricky to do with the machine, Going to make a few bits again shortly
Hahaa cool. I really wanted a Banjo Bros before I got the North Face one... Did you say you got a timbuk2 as well? Need to borrow some bags and get some messurements/ ideas for improvments...
