Nursery for New Members

I am using the crank that was on the bike, a Dawes Civic. I am running singlespeed with a shimano bmx freewheel and a kmc 510z chain. Its an unusual noise that i get, it comes and goes. I was suspecting the freewheel.

noisy drive train...

is...

your chain too tight,

you're wheel in straight,

your chainring bolts loose,

your crank bolt loose,

your chain dry of lube,

your chain too slack,

your chainline terrible,

or

the end of a cable rubbing your wheel?

take your wheel out, and spin it holding the axle, is it smooth?

is it when you are pedalling or when you are freewheeling?
