list of things needed:

New seat in black
New tyres in black probably zaffiros
New stem in black
New bars? (any recommendations?)
Black tape.
and pushing it a nice seatpost maybe carbon because carbon is cool.

nice stuff sort out the bars, yeah. just a smaller rise stem and retape the bars.

yeh i didnt have a stem so i just put the only one i could find on so it is rideable!

tbh you've done the right thing and not cut them down crazy narrow straight away. I've got a pipe cutter if you want to use it if/when you do come to narrow them.

To cap them temporarily, a couple of pennies with some PVC tape will do the trick.

yeh i've got a small hacksaw so i could just use that but we'll see..
