i think if its been near the knotweed best to burn it rather than put in an allottment...
-
• #4053
just to point out, you wont kill the japanese knotweed with fire, the roots will be there and next spring it will came up again.
after the fire, dig and take out the roots, and even like that, 90% chances it will came again
why do you think there companies specialise in the removal of it?the knotweed is behind and growing up through the wood out the back - we want to clear it to start the poisoning process, not burn the knotweed, ricardo.

ah, good point.

Very good point. And I don't want to deprive a fellow man of the chance to build a big fire, so for that reason, I'm out.
-
• #4055
you will see the fire from your house, andy.
-
• #4056
Is this just an excuse for you to put make up on and dance around like a lunatic? Again.

Right, I know I'm probably teaching Granny to suck eggs here but we all know that it's a particularly bad call to get any juice from that Knotweed on your skin right? I blundered into a strimming session with no shirt and no clue about botanics once... blisters were a bitch!!!

Sarah will be doing the hard work - i am going to be busy burning bugs and stuff...
-
• #4070
Rubber gloves and long sleeves at the least BRM otherwise you'll be Calomining her up for days mark my words! (and that's not as fun as it sounds).

as sarah is away that weekend, i will make sure i am suitably attired for the removal, but i am definitely NOT wearing a shirt when i am burning shit.
it's gonna be like the zoo scene in the omen in my garden that weekend.

What you need is an air strike. And a BBQ. And a crate of Tyskie.

I have an arseload of of old wood in the alley behind our house. We need to clear it to fix the fence. Is burning it in a drum going to get me arrested?
You could donate to your local: fire station/amubulance station/teachers union/nurses union (insert favourite public service) for them to burn when they all go on strike over the cuts at some point in the next months.
Sorry this is no help whatsoever on reflection.
