Other traders would have loved that ability I am sure. It sits very uncomfortably with me that you closed the discussion. It is definitely the case that other traders would love that ability, and it (the ability to close threads) only exists within the Classifieds forum for one very specific reason, which is not the reason you used it for.
Actually I'll solve this properly.
I'll remove the ability to close threads, and instead add a "Sold" prefix and the ability to switch prefixes. All closed threads will be re-opened in the future and the prefix switched to "Sold".
This way no trader will have the ability to close their threads, which makes it then consistent with the rest of the forum.

Move the existing Archie's thread into Bikes & Bits and leave it open.
Then, if Scot wants to sell items and close the threads, he can do so by starting threads within Classifieds .I'll start another thread for people in Bikes & Bits for Archie's Grobags and you can continue to control the one in Classifieds.
My 50 øre's worth:
A)these two things are the same
B)If someone found the thread closed, and want to comment/discuss/post a cake pic, they could start a new thread themselves.
C)Hippy will merge them all anyway, hes a loose cannon.None of my beesknees really though.

Does the seller have the ablitiy to close the topic once? thus eliminating them from opening/closing them every now and then?

Trouble is sales fall through, and things go back on sale.

And people accidentally close the thread and don't realise that they've done so (really they do).

Then should they not closed it until the sales has gone through?

... you know, back when hippy wasn't a merge droid, and still had a personality; before RPM became a BC operative and got all coy about speaking his mind; when MrSmyth was MrSmith; before the polo dichotomy, when you could rely on a daily "Ha!" from aidan; when pj still posted, pre-parantheses; during the child-like abandon of DavidK's lackadaisical rule...

merged teenslain's 'amusing' pictures in track forum, trying to stop serious discussion being diverted to the silly shed.
I would have deleted the posts if he wasn't my friend.
