  • Hi, I hear this is the Friendliest Forum on the Internet™, looking forward to joining the community. After some drunk ebaying I'm in need of a few bits for my new winter frame build (geared) which may or may not fit me when it's done, so I hope to be making good use of the classified and mechanical pages soon.

Difinity the friendliest!!! Welcome to our world geared or not!

  • Difinity the friendliest!!!!

    And the worst at spelling

  • iPhone typing errors...

  • Bastard

  • That's right CB.. Blame your Iphone..

  • Bastard

    Friendly ??

  • Another new joiner here (London-based and just lurking, so far).

Just saying hi, nothing much to contribute for now.

  • Okay

    I like this nursery!!!

I'am from Holland and I only want to advertice.

  • Cheers for the welcome CB, I should add that I've been riding my fixie for the last 4 years, so I'm geared and not! I've just succumbed to the need for gears on the long and hilly rides

You are doing yourself no favours

  • thanks sounds good

  • Evening All.

Turns out I've been a member for a long while now (joined months ago, then forgot about it!)... and, as aptly put in a previous comment, have finally taken the plunge and am making my first post!

Am looking forward to getting more involved with the forum!

  • I am using the crank that was on the bike, a Dawes Civic. I am running singlespeed with a shimano bmx freewheel and a kmc 510z chain. Its an unusual noise that i get, it comes and goes. I was suspecting the freewheel.

I will post more details up starting my own thread when I can.

    Thanks

    noisy drive train...

    is...

    your chain too tight,

    you're wheel in straight,

    your chainring bolts loose,

    your crank bolt loose,

    your chain dry of lube,

    your chain too slack,

    your chainline terrible,

    or

the end of a cable rubbing your wheel?

take your wheel out, and spin it holding the axle, is it smooth?

is it when you are pedalling or when you are freewheeling?

    hope this helps.

  • Getting my hands dirty. Building up three bikes, you'll see me in the classifieds.

  • Great.
    Welcome.

Oh, we didn't mind. We enjoy bloodsport on here. Though in general it's very appreciated as it might prevent someone else copying his actions :)

  • Things work a little differently around here. hippy was bang out of order for banning him so quickly. ;)

  • Brave, it was good seeing you today buddy! Way to long sir.

  • :-)

  • Hi all, My name is Cillian i live in Dublin, Ireland I have wanted a fixie for about 7 years and last year I finally got around to building one. I started building a single speed out of a Raleigh pioneer which my brother now cycles, I then built this bike, http://fixedgeargallery.com/2010/may/2/CillianMurphy/CillianMurphy.htm, I have changed the handle bars to a pair of risers with yellow oury grips. then I built a fixie for a friend on the cheap, http://fixedgeargallery.com/2010/may/2/CillianMurphy/CillianMurphy.htm but sold that as they couldnt use it. I am currently building my 3rd fixie and 4th bike.

  • Can you describe the noise?

  • Hi
