Hi there, originally from Kent, but live in mainland China. Thinking building new city bike, might go 9 speed or fixed, using good but old 7075 MTB frame with 26" wheels. Looking for information and thoughts about fixed wheel hubs and bike.

Give us some info and thoughts on riding in China...?
China used to be the land of bicycles, these days it is the land of car and electric bike riders. Roads are very status orientated, with cars at the top and bicycles at the bottom, most bicycles are very cheap single speed and poorly maintained. Good bikes are limited to major Taiwanese brands mostly. Mechanics are easy to find, and cheap parts. Well made parts like middleburn chain rings are unavailable. There are a few hardcore riders, however. I am impressed with the trials scene, moderately with road racing. Fairly unimpressed with their MTB riders. Decent parts can be hard to find here too. There is a developing fixed gear scene which is filtering down from Beijing.

Hi all. I joined the site primarily to post a report about the theft of my wheels - new, silver Mavic Crossride UB 2010 wheelset with Conti Gatorskin tyres mounted - stolen within the last couple fo weeks from the garages of my flats in Whitechapel. So on the off-chance, the b'tard that nicked tries to post on here, I'd appreciate a shout. In the meantime, most of you seem nice, so hello... James

Hi Guys, Just a quick message to introduce myself!
My name is Ben, I am 27 and I live just outside Oxford. I got into bikes through Downhill Mountain biking, and I am starting to get into fixed gear bikes!
Look forward to sharing the bike love on here with you all!
Cheers.
Hi Ben, there's an Oxford sub forum that's used to arrange local rides, polo, etc. Head on over and introduce yourself on the 'Who and what' thread! -

Hi all,
I have been a visitor here for a little while so thought I should join in at last. I know one or two of the people on here especially some of those who are cycle instructors as I have been working for CTUK over the summer (and into the autumn) which has been absolutely great fun. I am also involved with the LCC in Islington.
The username comes from an old frame I have which I am planning to rebuild at some point. It is fairly anonymous and I bought it a couple of years ago. It has a badge which says "Barron" and suggests it was built in Lincoln. I have not been able to find anything out about the framebuilder so if anyone knows more, I would be intrigued to learn. I am afraid I am unlikely to build it as a single of fixed as I think it started out as a time trial machine and I would love to restore it and maybe ride it as it was meant to be ridden.
Look forward to reading, contributing and maybe meeting a few more of you
Cheers

I love the minimalism of it CB.. The absence of any words speaks of the profound agony of existence. By saying nothing they have spoken volumes.
