....so the frame, fork, cranks and the wheel are back! Only missing saddle, post, handlebars & stem which in the grand scheme of things is not to bad (or expensive) and am very happy.
Last Thursday a forumenger called Stu (didnt get your username so please tell me) rang to say that he had seen the bike outside the barbour shop on the corner of Atlantic Rd & Coldharbour lane that evening. So Friday was spent in the rain keeping an eye on the shop and also pounding the pavements around some of Brixtons finest shithole estates in search of it but too no avail.
Tonight though at 7.20 i was walking back from the tube and thought i would wander past.....and there it is sitting stripped of wheels and parts in the middle of the shop!!!! Resisting the urge to batter my way in and reclaim it i called the 5-0 and then spent an Hour (!) skulking around on a stake out in the hope that it wouldnt go anywhere else and asking passers by to casually walk past the shop and confirm it was still there. Eventually Brixtons finest do show up, go in, the guys come out and shout some shit at me so i go hide in the dogstar and about 10 minutes later after some extra officers show up out they come with the frame and wheels!
Seeing as the guy claimed someone had just dropped it off (?) and i had pictures of the bike from over the summer on my phone as well as an E-Mail from Zed saying i had bought it off of him in April they happily gave me it back!
Very Happy and relieved (especially as i had beeen looking at new frames all weekend but not actually buying one) and yeah just chuffed to bits.
So Cheers to the Forum especially this guy Stu and also Zed for the encouragment and also Jgarcia for giving me £20 off of the wheels i bought as my bike had been stolen and also all the other good words and advice. And those guys who take the stolen bike threads as an opportunity to have a go at people about locks, lives etc i genuinely hope it never happens to you!
