Cheers for the support guys.
I've got a bike for tomorrow and ben has already offered his until i can sort something out.
Just bummed and surprised no one stopped the guy who stole it! -

Gutted for you mate. What do you mean "surprised no one stopped the guy"? Were you having a party or something?
-
• #7
Also.. Does that mean people saw who took it if they had the chance to stop them?
-
• #8
Spare bike if you need it.

I remember locking my bike up rather well when inside at a party and everyone being all offended/not understanding people often walk in off the street.
Im sure the bike is still somewhere nearby, must've been "impulse theft". I'll keep my eye out, not too far away. But something tells me the thief will never get around to cutting the chain.

I've been watching eBay and Gumtree for 'fixie', 'brooks', 'kazane' etc, both locally and whole country.
Only takes a few minutes as Gumtree results are pretty small and only need to look at nearest and/or most recent on eBay, so I'll do this quite often when I get chance.
If it's in town you'll get it back, B'ham is too small to pull this shit.

bad news Fin, I'll keep a look out round my way.
There has been a fair few bike thefts in Solihull recently too and it even made one of the local papers. Houses have been broken into some very high value bikes nicked. Seems like nowhere is safe.

Cheers guys, it's really fucking annoying as my lights and mudguards were on it too.
I think i'm going to make up a hack bike asap.

And that identiti trick bike that was very distinctive.
Has anybody spotted any of these?
Like void said, I would imagine these to get spotted very quickly seeing as so few people here ride these kinds of bikes, actually any bike for that matter!
Good luck fin, have you had a look round of all the neighbours on russel road?

Fin, was it someone at the party stole it, someone who just walked in off the street or what? Were they pissed? Did people see them? If you think it might be close by get some reward posters stuck up nearby. Someone may have found it dumped and taken it in. I'll help stick posters up if you think it could help.

I will do, just waiting til I've got the time. Someone saw him/half recognised him - not sure who he knows - but i'm not holding much hope.
Frame was locked to front wheel in the front of the house with a loads of other bikes, my friends leave with theirs, 15 mins later my bike is gone around 4am.
Reported it too, if it was dumped i'd hope a bike with a massive lock on it would be handed in... -

Pretty sure you all know this bike, or at least know what a 'roller looks like but here's another pic anyway, bit more detailed than the others but obviously different bars.
I had a thought Fin, if it was a drunken opportunist thief, ie someone intending to simply nick a ride home, then you may be right that they dumped it and it could be in bushes somewhere in Cannon Hill Park.
Have you made flyers yet for the campuses? I'm in (with LS) to hit spots up.
If you're building a hack let us all know, we can start a freecycle thread, I have some bits.
