I swear to god that my Swerve shorts I bought a few weeks back are the most comfortable things I've ever ridden in. 100% recommended - going to get some of their softshell trousers next

anyone have a bead on what thickness the milwaukees are that are heading this way? arctic assault grade or something slightly less sweaty?
-
• #204
Hah I'd love to see something with "Arctic Assault Grade" on the label
-
• #205
yep, old stock. They don't make them anymore.
Chris found they didnt sell that well over here, as they suited a US winter better than a UK one (i.e. cold and wet as opposed to cold and dry)Does Chris have any knocking around?

after getting absolutely soaked last night and having, and I mean having to buy some cheap 2nd hand jeans, as I didn't want to be standing around with damp jeans on all night, will be investing in a couple of pairs of the swrve 3/4 softshell shorts when I return to blighty, for when the weather gets shitty...

is a cotton wax jacket a good idea for cycling?
I love my WWR shorts. -

Email him and ask?

It's waterproof and relatively breathable so I don't see why not. I wouldn't race in it but for mincing around town through the winter months I think it would be ideal.

Andy: good point well made.
Doesn't Skully have a (non swrve)waxed jacket for going around in? He seems comfortable in it and speaks highly of it's properties.

I am a sweaty person so probably not for me.
Does anybody have the shirt/jacket? I am a bit confused by the sizing.
acording to the chart I need a Small but I never bought S in anything.
What do people buy that need real small? -
• #212
I tried a M shirt/jacket on the other day and it was too small - but seeing as I usually take a L it was expected (he didnt have any L in)
Damo: I'm pretty sure he didnt have any of those old jackets in, but he did say he had a S windbreaker somewhere, which are also now not on sale.
I got some WWR trousers the other day, they are really smart - ideal for work, in fact they are nicer than most of the work trousers I own.

Sohi, I've tried a small in the Milwaukee. I'm not small, and I've boobs, but it fit. Think they're just big sizes I reckon. Embrace it.

Sizing is for Americans innit.

It's this one isn't it;
http://www.hilltrek.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Cycling_Double_Ventile_Jacket.html
It's made from ventile cotton, but I'm not sure if that's waxed or not?
-

^
Yep. That's the one. Clearly, it's not waxed....I'll shut up now.
from :
Ventile® is not coated or laminated yet the combination of the dense weave and the swelling properties of the fibres when wet provide excellent weatherproofing. -
• #217
but then later it says:
"Your Ventile® garment may eventually require a reproof. Either use a product such as Grangers Extreme Waterproofing for Naturals, following their instructions or a specialist reproofing company familiar with Ventile® "I would be mainly worried about cotton taking ages to dry.

Not a cycling cut but good enough for my short commute. -

+1 on the Finisterre matanuska - just got one a couple of days ago - its proper awesome - and half price at the moment too!

if anyone spots any of these jackets of otherworldly renown in the shops, please drop a line in this thread, theyre like hens teeth at the moment.
Mosquito had a Milwaukee a few weeks ago and PUSH had either one or two the other day too.
Think they were mediums or perhaps a large. They would have had one less if I'd had any money.

Interesting that the waxed jacket is made in the UK. That's something of a departure from their "Made in the USA" principle.

been wearing my shiny new swrve milwaukee coat for the past three days - if it came with an ensuite bathroom, a catflap and cable TV, i'd live in it.
cheers Clefty and Chris, love your work. even your difficult second album.

I used to have some swrve woolen 3/4s way back when in 2007. There was some kind of mistake in the factory with the stitching so a 34 fit like a 32. Picked them up for £40 instead of the usual £120, and loved them to bits (see photo).
Unfortunately after several months of washing they for some reason shrank (maybe i washed them too hot or something), but with a deep sadness i had to throw them out.
Last week I was perusing swrve.co.uk as I had a severe shortage of trousers. I bought some of the skinny fit 3/4s, cos they were the cheapest, and by golly gosh and damn are they the comfiest things I have ever worn?! Yes.
Now I also own some of the jeans, gratifyingly I seem to fit a 30" waist, although they are a little tight around the thigh. Ok, very tight. I'm hoping that 2% lycra will come into play after a wash or two. I am looking to buy another pair, maybe of the WWR trousers, but I want to see how the jeans feel after a wash before i decide on a 30 or a 32.
Man I have never been so happy with an item of clothing since... well since 2007 when i bought the wool 3/4s!
