make sure the mercian have the clearance to though, and the panaracer tyres are fine, I have the 28c version on my faux-randonneur (road bike with fatter tyres + front rack), the missus have 25c and my dad have the 28c.
the tyres is fine, my dad rode his everyday doing 150 miles a weeks, it still held strong despite a couple of puncture (which were his fault for riding too close to the kerbs).
the fatter the better.
