max is ovalised, laterally at the BB and medially at the seat cluster... it's an amazing tube set, i would love to own one. It became unpopular due really specific lugs that were required. Dutch cheese knows about that more than me, he's the one who i learnt it from.

Not unpopular because of the specific lugs (although you depended on these and couldn't use others. Especially lugless these frames were very nice.
But building lugless was/is rather difficult, expensive, time consuming and could lead to quality issues.
Biggest disadvantage (and advantage at the same time) was the fact that the tubes were oversized and had a very, very minimal wall thickness.
So, it was very much sensitive for damage and hard to use in manufacturing (like a coke can).
Nice stuff for show bikes and one-offs, but not for commercial purposes. -

It was one of those, scrolling through the photos i was thinking, "what could possibly be so wrong with the forks, this looks pretty damn nice..."
oh. i see.
@ edscoble I like the look of the seat stay join, how it looks like an S from behind.

^ explain yourself? i scrolled all the way down twice. and i still don't "see"...
-

the leverage of the dropout over the contact area of the weld...?
is that safe? it's obviously not gonna have gone through stringent controlled safety testing....

Tiny pic of the "Gulf" Feather built up - I think it might actually work, sort of.
-
• #38472
^ no. not with brake levers of different color
-
• #38473
not with that handelbar, could be drops, moustache, even with flat or riser bars would look better
-
• #38474
If it's build up like a classic british lightweight (drop bar with brake hood, normal wheel with gumwall, brooks), it might just work.

I was thinking some nice drops (like b123 shape or randonneur), black eleganza tape and all black tyres, black regal and a single bar end lever or cross top, as their is only one brake.
lugged and fillet brazed?
sound silky!
I much prefer that example to the feather.
