This week's fixtures & results League III (winter 2010/2011)

Yep this totally sucks.
I can't find the thread where I was lambasted for suggesting that it's not a good idea to have lots of noobs in the league. I was pretty much mobbed for daring to suggest such a thing and now there's a feeling that the new teams are wasting everyone's time.

There's a real mixture of feeling in that the association is being pro-active about recruiting new players but from over-heard comments /slagging off, postings in threads etc. it seems that as a result most people hate the league.

I encouraged people to join as a result of 'just play polo' 'it doesn't matter if you don't win or even score' 'don't worry what our team thinks of playing noobs' 'you'll improve as you go' etc. so if this has contributed to feeling of shitness then I apologise.

Sorry Joni but I totally disagree with that, after the games I have watched/played in/spectated it has been almost always unanimously that the league is awesome. Maybe the biggest voices 'hate the league' but the majority of people certainly don't.

I think there are only a few very loud people who talk shit about the league. Just to be clear: I have said that I think the format is stupid, but I love the league. I think the league is awesome, even if we are experimenting with a format that I really don't like.

In fact, I can only think of two people who have actively criticized the league. And it is pretty whack that they these league haters would decide to sub in if they get a chance "to play a good game."

I'm not throwing my toys out the pram Tom, just discussing on a forum that some of the comments being bandied around are contradictory to the feeling before the league started.
Move it for sure, I started writing it after Chukkers comment about the league being shit.

I hope you're right Ed, I should learn to ignore the negative comments perhaps, but there is some feeling of negativity towards new teams which is a shame, but hopefully it will pass.

In more positive news, there is league game tonight at Mitch. I'll be there because league games are awesome!

Any ill feeling towards the league isn't about playing beginner teams, it's about the format. There were beginner teams in both the previous leagues, and that caused no problems

I've heard comments about 'and that's why there's no point in turning up for the league' about beginner players.
So many people, I appreciated not everyone's going to be happy.
Is there anyone happy with the format?

There's absolutely no negativity towards new teams & player in the league from this quarter.

I don't like the fact that it is split in two divisions, but the league is something great to be part of, and play teams of all levels :)

playing against noobs was never a problem or considered a problem. All this talk of a league... We don't have a league anymore, we have divisions. How funny / freudian is that?

I think it's way too early to say what I think. Apart from wishing that we have played 3 out against Zombie, I have no regrets about the league so far.
