Matt Rendell's biog. Excellent read for the tifosi.

Will swap for another cycling book - has to be about proper cycling ie road racing (any fule kno that BMX is for kids; track is for cunts; MTB is for the weak; touring is for the insane).

Do you want to borrow "Cycling Heroes: The Golden Years" by Les Woodland. Quite a quick read. Half a dozen pages of anecdotes for 21 cyclists with a picture each. Mostly riders born in the 1930s.

Just noticed there are a few more decent pictures in the middle. Maybe not that much you don't already know, but some interesting stuff about the British riders who tried their hand on the Belgian circuit.
