Slough would be about right for Chelsea I reckon
Whereas, very sadly, Liverpool is right for Liverpool and is a far bigger and deeper cesspit than even Slough.

I'm not sure about that Clive.
Slough is the worst place I have been in England outside of London -

Have you never been to Sunderland or Crosby?
There are some parts of Liverpool, particularly those near the football grounds that are like a site of post nuclear devastation.

^^ I have been to Newcastle and yes it is a fucking shit hole. I was supposed to be up there for a whole weekend but fled back to London on the first train Saturday morning.
Yes you are right it is worse than Slough

Well, I live in Birmingham, have family in Newcastle, support Liverpool, and have never been to Slough.
I've been to Banbury though, that place sucks. As does Southampton. And Hull. -

was up there on a stag do and talked to some local knuckle dragger about the real St James Park for quite a while before he realised I was ripping the piss.

Finally myself and Lucy agree on something.

Pukes on cottage
We need a smaller away end, not a bigger ground. -

where in newcastle did you go!?
-
• #22939
I think Newcastle's a beautiful city... Ho hum...
-
• #22940
granted, bits are rough as fuck, but no worse than mile end!

I've tried to cleanse the memory.. there was a lot of pub near a river (struck me as the townie bit) stayed fairly central and went to a nightclub which I've very little recollection of.
Glad that's cleared up. In all honesty the best bit was me signing fog on the tyne to myself most of the day

Mike, I can assure you, Sunderland is far far worse. It is the poorest place I have been to in England and makes Newport seem pleasant.

• #22943
Clive, forget Newport head further West to Neath. Classy
-

FFS.
Sunderland isn't that bad. When was the last time you went Clive? 80s?90s? Given you have previous for writing off an area, Derby, based on a football visit in the 80s, I think we should have full disclosure.
Sunderland>Newcastle>>>>>Hartlepool>Middlesboro -

wow. "writing with capitals"/" properly is a bit odd. i might start using "it" again/doing it.

I went to Sundaerland about three or four years ago to see Chelsea play. We got there early due to a lack of traffic and the fact that the guy driving was an amateur racing driver (quite literally). We had about three hours to kill in Sunderland town centre. Truly ghastly. Middlesbrough is much nicer. At least there are jobs in Middlesbrough.

Have to disagree with this, both in terms of caliber of the cities and also the intended subject matter of this thread. [/mackemburn]

Watching a car for £5 whilst the occupants attend a football match does not constitute a full time job, Clive.
-
• #22949
andy, there are chemical works in Middlesbrough, loads of them. Someone must work there. There is nothing in Sunderland apart from pregnant 13 year olds and the midwives and social workers who look after them.
-
• #22950
Don't they still make cars for the 12 year old dads to steal?
