Indeed. This is good news not just for this particular incident but any future thefts where bikes end up on Gumtree etc.

The Bethnal Green SOCO told me that prosecution is difficult because they can't often prove that the bloke was the one who stole the bike, but in this case, they should have a red-handed case of possessing stolen goods, which should do nicely.
Great news, here's hoping the Brompton is recovered too.

Great news mate, fingers crossed for the Brompton too. On your travels did you get a phone number for the cycle task force? Were the switch board aware who you were talking about when you asked to be connected with them? Are there any useful numbers which we could all stick in our contacts in case (touch wood) we ever need them?

Great to hear you've got your Pinarello back and that hope isn't lost for the Brompton. On match days Arsenal provide guarded and alledgedly secure parking on Drayton Park. There's an unmarked gate that leads to an area in the stadium that is guarded by at least one security guard throughout the match. You don't need to pre-book...they'll let you in if you have a bike. They don't check your identity when coming to collect after the game but at least a security guard is there to stop people popping locks etc...Not perfect but better than most places for bike parking.

Early days but the cycle task force seems to be bringing a fair bit of win. Nice one.

the email above was how we contacted them initially, but I will check if I have a number as well as we spoke on the phone but that might have been from the station. My mate (who had the brompton) had more contact with them initially so I will check with him and post a number if he has one plus anything else we can think might be useful...
By the way, the brompton was apparently sold to someone from winchester in case anyone from that area has come across a very cheap white brompton with an "I am the Stig" sticker on the head tube and knackered mudguards...

If your mate can afford the time, a morning of meeting trains coming in from Winchester at Waterloo may prove productive.
Great new on your bike btw.

I'm in Winchester on Friday, I will keep my eyes open and re-acquire it if I spot it.
Fair enough; in fact people have wondered if thieves look at these threads so best not to give too much away. A great result though.
