I have a frame, but its all the way in Birmingham and probably not worth transporting.

i have a mongoose something or other from about 6 years ago, its in average condition.
i'd be happy to give that away, but maybe wait a while, see what else is offered?
it is very heavy and will need a couple of things doing to it. -

I have a united team frame, shadow conspiracy forks and s&m bars which I'd be happy to donate to a good cause. It might be a bit overkill though, depends how seriously you think it's likely to get ridden?.
The frame and forks are both brakeless which may not be ideal and all the parts are stripped to raw metal so could do with spraying but isn't much of an issue for a bmx. It's all sat gathering dust in my basement along with my complete bmx which only sees the light of day about once a month.
I can help with other parts and build it if need be. Anything to help out a bmxer.

I have a wethepeople 4 seasons slowly dying on my balcon. It will need a new freewheel though. You are welcome to collect from Battersea.

I have a Fitbikeco complete bike going spare. I say complete, but it needs a set of cranks, although I should have a spare chainring to suit.... It's at a friends house at the minute, but I can grab it soon if need be.
It's one of the early completes they did, but has hardly been used. My ex had it from new, she didn't ride more than a handful of times.
Ben.

Wow, what an incredible response! Easy tho', we don't wanna spoil the little tyke... I'll probably take conservative_values up on his offer cuz he's the closest and I've got a freewheel in my spares box that'll make it skatepark-worthy straight away... Thanks everyone! :D

Joe, might be a good idea for Lori to contact his parents first. Sounds daft but there's every chance he might bring the bike home and get accused of nicking it.
"But I was given it !!"
"Yeah, a likely story... I'm taking this off you and it's going to the charity shop if you don't tell me who you stole it from."
"But, but..."

We have one down at the Union Cycle Works. He could come down on a weekend and work with us to do it up and we can show him how to maintain it. Be more than happy to have him at the workshop. Let me know.

I've got an old Raleigh Reaper BMX knocking around in the garden here in sunny Dalston - I'm planning on having the brakeset and pedals for a pub bike project - but you're welcome to everything else!
It made a lovely double Catherine wheel on Saturday when I taped rockets to the wheels.

This is blinding. What wonderful vibes here.... lucky kid. shame we couldn't do this for every impoverished young'un in London in need of some plain old tlc. Can you imagine the effect.

Why not? There are plenty of bike charities around (I used to volunteer at Re~cycle in Cardiff) and maybe we can get a thread going and get a stock of bikes to give away?

can we not do some sort of bmx recycle scheme for the kids down at the skatepark? There have been about 5/6 bikes offered, could we not get them together and show some disadvantaged kids how to repair and look after them?
Is it possible if mrs slain and this kid set an example, that other kids would follow. Would be nice to help them out if so. -

That would be fantastic cb, what a heart warming thread this has quickly turned into. Nice one lfgss peeps.

My comment about asking his parents was deadly serious BTW... Just sayin...
Does anyone have an old BMX they'd be happy to give away to a disadvantaged 14 year old Nigerian kid in Brixton?
It's for one of Mrs Slain's students who always hangs around Brixton skate park or the dirt track at Brockwell Park on his sister's pink scooter, he's poor as a church mouse and his parents can't afford a bike... Mrs Slain's gonna get him to write a letter detailing the bits he wants with his budget (he actually wants to pay for parts, which is pretty sweet), he wants to build his own bike but I think it'll be easier if he got a full bike and then taught him how to take care of it...
Can anyone help? It would be awesome if you could...
