Have you ever put your hands on the hoods? Did you find it more comfortable? Did give you more leverage when ridding out of the saddle?
The actual lever is only one part of the function of drop brakes. I think this is well proven by the constant subtle re-design of the egonomics of drop brakes over the years.
Aethetics aside, I find it hard to belive that anyone riding drops doesn't find having 2 levers more comfortable.
