  • Allright, I understand this is a public forum and you are entitled to say your opinion, and I am sorry that Hilary doesnt need to charge VAT on his frames or doesn't have the overheads we have but to say our stock is 'so overpriced' means that we don't stand a chance to try and sell anything, so I might as well not try to run a business which I am passionate about and go back to my office job.

And for your information Pistoffski the Motoconfort is not the same Hilary sold to me a while back and the same applies for the Atala which is columbus SL which is superior than Aelle tubing.

  • But it's still not a mixte

(and ps, I know you've had some rather poor experiences here in the past, but getting cranky will just feed the flame. I would put on a fireman's mask if I were you)

  • These frames are worth the asking price, since they have not yet been built up by Foffa and had their value destroyed.

Seriously, Mr Foffa, if you're going to try to sell old frames of no great distinction at vastly inflated prices, don't try it here, there are plenty of ignorant mugs out there waiting to be fleeced and you need to concentrate on finding them before they find this forum and discover how thoroughly you've shafted them.

Sweet, does that mean if I buy one of these you're gonna issue me with a VAT receipt?

    Fully awesome.

Need to claim that shit back innit.

  • Actually, fuck VAT and claiming that back, I'll just go rip some nice people off, saves on the paperwork innit.

  • yay, haven't seen a good ol' facepalm in a while.

the temptation to bitch is SO strong! But it's not gentleman like so I won't.
Still I don't understand how some people like to put themselves in such loathed situation.

  • Dani... put the prices down, everyone here agrees that your prices are way too high, so... do something about it if you really want to sell any of them.
As someone says £50 down each will make right.

  • thats and old post ..... he can put those prices back up another £50

  • For the love of God.

Wake up and smell the coffee Mr Foffa.

  • Point taken Jeez, and really appreciate your constructive feedback.

    All the best,

    dani

  • Subject to the great and the good actually purchasing any of your wares, is there any danger of a donation to help swell the forum coffers?

  • After consideration of the prices I initially asked for I would be happy to knock off £30 the price of each frame. I am afraid that s the best I can do. If people still think I am being unreasonably nuts then clearly I am not advertising in the right place!

    Clearly you are not.

  • Fair play Pistoffski, I wasnt in a massive rush to get rid of the frames hence why I wanted to wait a bit before putting the prices down but I didn't realise this was gonna cause a riot in the community!

I thought some of those frames were nice enough to ask for a premium and obviously there s no way I could ever compete with Hilary!

Anyway, I hope that my new offer shows to be a bit more fair..

  • I'd been giving you the benefit of doubt before, but you really are a prize plum aren't you?

  • Take the point mate, you've come to the wrong place with those prices. After all the negative responses you've had you'd be better off cutting your loses and taking your sale elsewhere, surely you can see that.

  • Fair enough, you're running a business, you want to charge a fair 'market price', cover costs, whatever... but if that's your 'sale' prices then really your business model is not tenable:

if X can be bought in another place, for less than a third of the price in some cases, and is pretty widely available, you'd be a total muppet to pay what you're wanting, so why ask it?

It's like you iz wanting to be Marks and Spencer but you iz sellin the same shit as Liddle, innit?

Stick them on Ebay, BIN, whatever, not one of them will fetch what you are asking-it's like chumps coming on here to sell their 'Urban Fixie' that include a grand of labour charges in the costing. Even the Olmo's not worth more than £90.

  • Hey Dani, don't you know it's all about geared bikes for 2010/11, so buy this and make yourself some fast profit by calling it "Vintage" and selling it for £300

    VAT is 17.5% not 150%

Hilary is making a profit, he has already bought the frames cheaper than he sells them for, therefore you cannot buy frames from Hilary and expect to make further profit. It's like me buying something from Wiggle then putting it on ebay for 50% more. It ain't gonna work. Do you even understand the difference between trade and retail?

Honestly, you seem to struggle so much with this business of yours that you are clearly not cut out for it, perhaps it's not such a bad idea to go back to your office job?

  • sell them on the bay and let the buyers talk !

  • Ask what you want Dani .. if someone does'nt like the price then they can make an offer , you have to start somewhere and you can only come down in price not up ! That Atalas is a quality frame ,I'd pay close to that asking price for it .

  • atala is about the only one ........

the "mixte" should be more like £20

however using a public forum to sell your wares as you know you dont have to pay any fees to sell is poor show from someone who is so passionate about bikes !

as a business perhaps it could be a tax write off ?

  • Dude it's not the prices per se. It's more the fact that you have completely misjudged the forum classified section.
