A mate has a 2008 Bowery (the one I like - black with chrome forks/stays). He managed to get some crud baldes on, but I think I'd want something a little more substantial...

The plug is my winter bike; big, sturdy, stable...what's not to like?
-

I'm thinking of selling my plug and getting something else. I love riding it, but it's just not so practical for winter.
I'm thinking about getting something along the lines of a second hand Langster. I like the idea of a compact aluminium frame that I can get mudguards onto.
Then, part of me wants to get new forks for it (that don't weigh a metric ton).
Can't decide!
Can anyone list some compact alu frames for me? So far I can think of the Langster and the Giant Bowery.
What about a 29er?

Nah, definitely want something road orientated.

Check out the Genesis Day One. Awesome winter frame.

On-One Pompino is a must for your list Steve.

I was looking at a pompino built up in the Planet-X sale, but couldn't afford it. Maybe I could get the frame and building it up using parts off the Charge (sell the plug F&F).
Still like the idea of an alloy compact frame though...

Get the pompino frame or look for a second hand langster frame. Those are the two sensible options and I doubt anything else will satisfy your lust for change!
Consider though that it's never just a frame swap. There's a lot of other bits you may have to change as well.

Wise words Marcus :)
I think my plan is to sell the charge F&F (and other less useful bits like bars/stem/seat post etc) and stash the cash for a while, keeping my eyes out for a langster full bike or frame etc. Have been a few lately but not had the cash available to get them.

Perhaps a wanted ad on said forum? It's the type of frame that someone might have tucked away. Just hope it's not the London edition!

I'm a lurker rather than a poster, so bear with me, but i've got a 56cm 2009 polished langster that i'm using for commuting on at the minute. I'm looking at buying something else though as I fancy a change, but was originally planning to hold onto this until after christmas.
What size were you after?
drop me an email if you want some pictures (sheephead84@googlemail.com)

someone was selling a couple of year old 54 black langster complete on here for silly money the other day. nearly bought it as winter hack... probably gone now...

^ just saw that thread, was a 58cm and he only wanted £230!

Yeah, I saw the ad for the black langster, but it turns out it's too big. I think I'd be after about a 54cm :) Maybe even a 52cm. It's the TT length more than anything (T-rex syndrome).

Do you commute, or reside in Brum now? -

Commute, living at my sisters on the sofa till I've saved up, good money and a great place to work where I am.
Plus it's such an easy city to fly about once you know the little alleys and stuff :) -
