I think the reserve list should head out anyway, as a second group.

there was a big to-do about limiting numbers on a forum ride in previous incarnations.

More than 50 on the same night would be too much carnage unfortunately.

if things go wrong, 50 gets to be too many.. we had so many punctures the first year that a lot of people had to bail before we got half way in just because of the time. it's a winding route round some parts and some of it is well off the beaten track.. with four people in an energetic mood the ride takes over two hours, with 50 it takes much much longer. it's also about trying to not make too much fuss as some of the ride goes through residential areas.

Or maybe each group could attack the route from opposite ends, meeting up in the middle....?

i think part of the reason why the ride was enjoyed a lot is because the route's worked out so that it's a process of reveals.. you're riding along in darkness and then suddenly something really nice is before you (I'm not just talking about Markyboy's gruff athleticism). so it doesn't really work in reverse.

I'll have a think about organising two separate nights if there's enough interest, though it depends on work. if i'm not working much around then i'll happily do another night a few days after this one but i won't know till nearer the date.
