The scheme is the latest attempt by the Mayor's office to control pollution, which is said to cause the early deaths of 3,000 to 5,000 people in the capital each year

First time I've seen this thread. I had a 'car as weapon' thing last night. Was travelling along Whitechapel High St towards town and looking to turn right at Sainsburys / Camb' Heath Road, so I did the usual insistent right filter from bus to main lane, then further still towards right side for imminent righty. Traffic at a standstill so I drift over to the first half foot of the Eastbound lane. There's bags of space and nothing in the oppo bus lanes or anything but a crazy in a knackered Toyota makes a conscious effort to swing in my direction (making a very aggressive point about my being on what she obviously thought was "her side of the road"). I slowed right up and had nowhere to go really so just ended up putting my hand up in a 'stop' sign to impress on her how shit scared I was. Ultimately she left me just over a bar's width between the cars on my left and death. I'd say she was doing about 30. She was spitting bile at me as she passed too - absolutely livid she was.
I had a bit of a think about it and I really had done nothing wrong. In fact a quick glance over my shoulder and there was all sorts doing the same thing a bit further back; bikes, motorbikes, even cars consider a cheeky slide up there at that point to stash themselves in the righty lane at the junction.
Judge Dreadd in a frickin 90s Toyota. 'I am the law!'.

She was probably having a bad morning, driving from a loveless marriage to a job she hates in a clapped out car and facing the prospect of Congestion Charge and Parking fees. Feel for her.

Do you think she had a driving licence/insurance?

Lynx
Do you know - I reckon she probably did. I got the righteous lunatic with tinges of bad day and a heap of pedal hatred vibe off her.

Yeh, I had one Weds night when I was pedaling along past Friern Road on Lordship Lane with this presumably Rasta dude (side by side). A guy in a car drove REALLY fast behind us, really far too close, and then sped past us to be stopped at the light at Barry Road.
And just yesterday some fuckhead sped past me on Bromley Common where it narrows at Southend Lane just to slam on her brakes two car lengths later.
I always want to ask why it was necessary but it never helps.

Perhaps a number plate, date/time of incidence? Probably not advisable to name and shame directly if you are considering a legal case, but if this thread gets enough activity It will surely come up on page one of google searches for said companies, the additional information may then have a slim chance of being followed up internally by the company?
-
• #113
The drivers are representing their companies, it's just easier to list the bad one than to wait for one of them to kill someone.
-
• #114
Why? So that when they kill someone you can say you said it would happen?
-
• #115
Cause no one will do anything about it frankly.
List them out so we're aware that a certain companies may be a risk to ride near it.
-

Ed, I'm sorry, but this is a fucking stupid list.
List:
All companies. All big trucks. All buses. All self-hire vans of any size. And
ersI guess what I'm saying is- No-one else gives a shit that you're on the road, so you better look after yourself.

after your previous run in with the libel lawyers i thought you might have learnt your lesson ed
lol -
• #119
Wait. isn't everyone on the road supposed to be a risk? Seems a bit arbitrary to just point at certain haulage companies based on individual actions. What next. start finding out where people live to call out their poor driving?
-
• #120
These guys were a total liability
-
• #121
And those fucking massive black long car van ones with glass all round and a big long box in, going so fucking slowly. And why have they always got bloody flowers in spelling NANNA or whatever?

First time ive had an aggro truck driver was yesterday, four of us riding down an open a road with loads of those central island things constantly which led to a minibus nearly taking my mates out at speed as it misjudged its width, hit the kerb and flung the back end of bus up in the air but no other damage.
Few miles later on, 20 m from a roundabout, going straight on, a BMW passively but for no need accelerated past cut in then turned left across two of us which was bad enough, but no harm done, then a flatbed truck followed it and attempted to ram us into the kerb twice. He then charged down the road revving up and aggressively trying and failing to pass the other two.Never had a truck do that, had taxis do it, but never a 12tonne truck aggressively trying to cut up a rider with the intention of death. Was so annoyed and slightly shaken to remember the registration.
