For Sale: Open Pro Dynamo - £50

700c front dynamo wheel for sale.

36h black mavic open pro on a shimano dynamo hub.

Crowsfoot lacing.

Not that keen on selling it, but unfortunately I need to start shifting some stuff before my holiday and hopefully this should be an easy stand-alone item.

Not sure what model of hub it is, but its 3v. The rim was virtually unused when I bought it, the hub was new and I'd be supprised if I did 50miles on the whole thing.

I also have some almost new 20c specialized racing tyres for a fiver and a new 38c cyclocross tyre that is a bit tight so has to go. Plus whatevers left on this thread.

Yes. It seemed to work well, the whole magnet thing is pretty good. Bit wierd, when you try and spin it in your hands it feels knotchy, but when ridding you don't notice it at all.

Its a 3V one (or at least 99% sure it is). I was just running the front lamp, so I used a 3v bulb in the front, but it'll run front and rear.

EDIT: I ran a 6 Volt / 3 Watt Halogen Dynamo Bulb in the front.

To hook it up you'll need one of these:

...and some cable. It's all pretty straight forward. But I think that the actual connection point is specific to each brand, so choose the right one.

SJS is great for all things dynamo related... agh now dreaming of one of these chaps:

You can pick them up pretty easily on ebay, altho last time I looked they always seem to hold there value at £20+. which seemed steep for old technology which most ppl qualified by saying "not tested".

Best bet is to go to a cycle jumble. Got my set for a fiver, and even then the guy looked like he thought he was robbing me.

There are some bits of info on the web about converting old ones and putting a recharagable batt inside.

Try and find the hub model if you can as there is a wide range of shimano dynao hubs fro the cheap nexus ones up to the dh 3n80 which is up near the SON level and hence price people will be willing to pay will vary significantly.

What about 40 quid and I'll pick it up as soon as you like
