Kitting out for winter... just buying this red light which I saw at the Cycle Show and is definitely the brightest stand-alone red light I've seen:

And buying the rechargeable batteries to go with it as the battery isn't a standard one is seems to be a costly replacement. Rechargeables only last a third of the time, but having 2 on the go should mean I always have one to hand and will actually keep the light brighter than I do usually:
