I move back down to Elephant and Castle on the 4th, so i'm up for a ride anytime after then.

• #1178
Surely it must be time for another round of newbie babysitting? It is quite dark outside nowadays
-
• #1179
Yeah, I've no bloody idea where Easts is next week.
-
• #1180
I'm up for a ride. Any more takers?
-
• #1181
Which direction? North is no good, Easts is dead, Wests...well Murt will propably be there so thats out.. which just leaves Souths really.
-
• #1182
Why is SEs always so overlooked?!
-
• #1183
There's a South East?
-
• #1184
Can't work out if you're trolling or not :(
South East Beers: Every Tuesday at the The Roebuck, Great Dover Street, SE1 -
• #1185
Troll spot fail... The mighty Roebuck is a quality pub and I do keep meaning to make SEs. I used to live right accross the road a few years ago so know it well. The bar staff have probably moved on since then so I may even be allowed in..

Tonight's as good a night as any, and better than most days of the week seeing as it's a Tuesday and we'll actually be there.
-
• #1187
Dont worry Gav, youre not the only one to be kicked out of that place ;-)
youll fit right in with your dodgy accent! -
• #1188
Maybe next week...I'm coming off a big Halloween bender and Souths last night. Both my head and wallet are in need of a few nights off the sauce this week.
-
• #1189
Dodgy accent? Bit rich coming from a Saffa aint it ;)
-
• #1190
Ah, but we dont have any antipodeans there (i dont think) but we ahve everything else...
-
• #1191
If I'd known you were a regular I'd have come along sooner*. I'll try and make it down next week.

Hiya, mega newbie here, enjoying nursery...
if there is a ride for some of us new kids being organised, maybe i can get involved?
im a bit confused by the site and where to find out whats going on or to know if its an invite only type of thing, but my computer might be having a meltdown.
thanks :) -
• #1193
hiya fixiebelle,
^ if it is on the forum then it is open to all.
just tag along / introduce yourself.
most people that turn up to the events / meets are dead friendly.
and we were all newbies at one point or another.
try the north ride coming up in mid november. it is on rides and races.
the rides are always a good place to introduce oneself.
enjoy.

thanks :)There are more rides in summer so it will be a bit quiet for the next few months. Keep checking the rides and races thread for whats coming up and go to your closest beers and get amongst it. It's West's today and there will be a crew at the Miller in SE1 tomorrow. It might even be time to get a compass ride group going if there's a few interested.
There will also be a huge forum contingent at Rollapolluza on the 10th which will be a cracking night.
Don't worry about fronting up and introducing yourself, they're the friendliest bunch of reprobates you'll ever meet ;p

Got an email about this and thought I'd revive...
It has been noted that meeting up with a big group of forumengers that you don't know in a pub can be slightly intimidating. So to make it less so, this idea has been put forward to combine drinks and rides.
Think of it as a Forum Fresher's week, without the hazing, so that the previous months new members get a chance to meet up with, and ride with fellow forumengers. Talk bikes, find out where drinks are, and get a good ride in at the same time
You can come out to the beers closest to you, or trek out to a beers on the otherside of town, safe in the knowledge that you'll be with people who a) know where they are going, and that b) someone will be heading back in your general direction so you can ride home in the company of another forumenger. So For One Week, every couple of months, there will be rides from Trafalgar Sq, to the Beers,
Monday - Souths @ The Coach and Horses
Tuesday - Norths @ The Flask
Tuesday - South Easts @ The Roebuck
** Wednesday - Easts @ (check thread)
Thursday - Wests @ The Pear Tree**A couple of regulars from each beers will be at Trafalgar Sq from approx 6.30 for a prompt 7pm departure, and will take any new member who so wishes for a ride which will arrive at beers.
The Next Compass Beer Rides will be
May 2-6** 2011**.with provisional dates for the following being
**July 4-8
Sept 5-9
**
Depending on how many new members/faces sign up and add their names to the ubiquitous forum list, the dates can be moved on a month or two, or brought forward. So New Members start here, come down to the ride to the beers, introduce yourself to other new and regular members, get a good ride into a beers, enjoy a soothing alcoholic beverage in the soothing presence of your new found bike friends and get a warm and fuzzy feeling at being welcomed into the collective forum bosom.
That is all...
