  • I agree.
When this contract finishes later this year, I'll probably move to O2 and get a HTC handset.

  • HTC good, but if you get a HTC and use it on O2 try to make sure it's sim free/factory unlocked.

O2 took ages to get the Desire 2.2 update out and some PAYG users are still waiting as they just pulled the update again, according to this thread. Considering Froyo came out in May that's a joke.

  • I would go for that sim thingy you guys have but I'd need unlimited texts, or least a fuckton. But I won't be finishing this current contract until this time next year, so long way to go :)

  • I thought your contract finished later this year?

  • Spelling fail

  • Ah ok. My Desire should be arriving tomorrow (sorry). Can I tempt you with a two month old, very well looked after Wildfire? It's getting Froyo before Christmas, apparently...

  • My boyfriend MAY be interested in it.
I'm pretty happy with my Xerpia otherwise despite it's faults and being on 1.6

  • According to Vodafone forum for Xperia 10 users, they havent got their 2.1 yet. Cos apparently, well read this after compliant that it prob wont be ready until mid nov.

  • How much do you want for the wildfire fox?

  • £150 - bought two months ago for £220 and it is perfect. Comes with silicone case, screen protector fitted, original box/packaging, receipt (so you'd be covered by the warranty or could take it back to handtec what I bought it from).

  • I have a spare new HCT case that I got off Amazon.

£5 anyone? Pick up Barbican or Brixton. PM me.

  • Which model of the various HTC phones is it for?
Big enough for the Desire HD, or small enough for the Wildfire?

  • Big enough for the desire. Bought 2 cause I thought a mate would use it/to save on postage. He doesn't want it so its up for grabs.

  • Yep it fits the desire fine. I originally got mine with my G1 way back in the day and now use it for the desire.

  • If anyone here is interested in a Samsung Galaxy S that I have been using for a month and is basically as new let me know as I will be looking to sell it as I am due an upgrade in December anyway.......

Try GiffGaff- I'm on it and its pretty good. It uses the O2 network, and they do a £10 a month package, with unltd texts and data, and 120 minutes. Very good imo!

  • But the handsets are like 350 or more right?

  • But the handsets are like 350 or more right?

Depends. At the moment you can get the San-Francisco and unlock it for £105 and its a damn good phone, and there are others coming out at around that price point

  • Hmm. Got a whole year to think about it as locked into a contract :]

    :)

I'm currently hoping for an android phone with lense+sensor as good as the N8. its going to be a long wait!

  • My new Desire has a problem with its proximity sensor - once you put it to your ear the screen goes blank and won't come back until you've put the phone down. Looks like I need to return it tomorrow for a replacement. So annoying, I was loving it too until I actually tried to make a phone call!

HTC's case for the Desire HD is out on the 10th

  • anybody with a stock galaxy S. What sort of battery life are you getting?

During what I would call light usage (20-30mins internet, no gps, hourly email grab, 1x30min phone call and sending about 40texts) I'm only just getting 8-10hours of out it. When I check the battery usage, its mostly system and it is generally only out of signal for about 15minutes, so its not that.
Its the third replacement handset i've had (1st phone hung up when it felt like it, 2nd one had about a dozen hot pixels, 3rd one has one hot pixel which I can just about live with) and when it shipped to me the battery wasn't packaged, was just shoved in the end of the box. I'm assuming its a recon handset or recon/used battery hence its life is shoddy and pathetic compared to the first 2 handsets.
Heavy usage = 2hour battery life. Unreal. I replaced my old phone (HTC/Sony Xperia X1) with this samsung piece of crap after its 'light usage' battery life fell below 1.5days (originally 3) and was quoted £65+postage for a genuine new battery. GRrrrr.

  • To improve battery life, turn off sync or increase gaps between syncs, disable background data if you don't sync, turn off location awareness if you don't need it, certainly turn off gps, use 2g or wifi and not 3g, dim the screen, reduce the 'time to blank' setting, turn off vibrate, use a black desktop wallpaper, reduce the number of installed and running apps, install a custom rom and underclock it the cpu.

Or use it flat out and just have a charger at home and work or a spare battery.

2hr battery life is bollocks. I just timed mine and got something like 47 hours from charge with 6 hours active. That's with most stuff off, twitter updates, alarms some calls.
I ran it with the GPS on during a walk in London and it lasted about 6-7 hours. DHD btw not Samshit.

  • I will generally get 24 hrs, some web, gmail always on, no other syncing, a few calls, quite a few texts, occasional gps but only when using the maps.

    Desire

i generally charge it over night, take it to work, if i forget to charge it that night, it won't die till the next morning.
