hello every1. I need some help with a strange bolt I've got on the back of my bike. I don't know where to find the key to remove it due to it's strange shape. Any1 knows the name of it so I can buy it on ebay? i know I should have posted a new thread but the system says I cannot.
thanks for your help.

Good luck getting your bike back, but have you checked your radiators? As looking at your photo it might not be the thief's first visit...

Cc_intl : Thanks, I have a front wheel ready and will build myself a proper polo wheel with an XT hub (6bolt), But I'd be keen on the fork
Otherjames : good idea, I'll look into it and will definatly use the ball bearing and superglue trick for alen bolts in the future. Will also use my lock+cable properly and force my girlfriend to do the same.

Currently living in Montreal, and watching a lady cycle up to a shop, just leave the bike on the kickstand and go inside, makes you realise what a sorry state of affairs london is in at the moment. I can't believe they completely stripped it like that Cedywedy. Harsh.

bloody hell man, reading this is heart wrenching. Shes still in london, somewhere.
Was down on the weekend and at some point I did actually see a lo pro, metallic blue but didn't notice anything else about it, sparked off a conversation with my mate about the funny front 26" rear 28" sizing thing as he was after a 26" 40spoker and might be worth ringing Hindes (the people that work in the hinde shop are about as scummy as the people that probably stole your joy) to get a 26" x40spk.*think I was somewhere between the market near london bridge station and the huge interchange thing on the south side of the river (l.bridge) on friday lunchtime. As I say, it was a lo pro, or a lo pro shaped bike (small front, large rear, extended seat tube, not sure if any other manufacturer made anything like that) and it was metallic blue, didn't notice anything else I'm afraid.
the sheer number of bikes being stolen in london is obscene, I almost by accident aprehended a bike theif on the regents canal as I practically wobbled into him on a bridge with my blatently heavily overloaded & unstable boris bike, more in the stolen bikes thread....

Just left arrived back in the land of lakes after spending 5days in the smog you lot call home, 5days of seeing, hearing about, crashing into and almost crashing into thieves...
riding east along the regent canal on,er, friday late afternoon, maybe 4-5pm, I crossed a footbridge on a boris bike (yeah yeah feed me to the lions). RIding down the zig zag access back down the canal path theres a group of asian kids infront of me, so I creap down the ramp so I don't have to pass them until they are on the canal path.
I hear a massive shout from just under the canal bridge 50m away
*'get off the bike get off the bike, put it down' *I glance to my left (still on the final section of ramp) and see a girl riding a bike looking a bit flusterd fly past me (tother side of railing). Fearing someone has just attacked her, and carryng about a grands worth of camera gear in my Boris Basket with these 'extra' asian dodgy kids infront of me, I sort of panic, what should i do, stop, ride down as fast as I can and go the other way on the canal path, see to the girl, chase the girl, chase the alledged attacker, run the attacker into the canal (regents is only 3ft so would be more of a soggy trouser day than a heroic deed).
While worrying about this, I don't notice the kid on the nice bike coming up the ramp at me, I've lost so much speed I'm actually trackstood (hehe new word), my boris basket pulling me over into the kids oncoming path. I drop the brakes stick a cranks worth in and get out of his way. He scoots up the ramp round the corner and past me.
Then the shouting guy is at the railings, "stop that kid, he's just stolen that bike", he then shouts some more abuse as he gayly rides over the canal bridge into some estate and freedom.
With some relief that the bike riding girl hadn't been attacked and I wasn't about to be I chatted to the guy and tried to save him from attempting to run after him, he would never catch the kid even if he was linfed christie the terrain was too open.Dunno if it was anybody on here but I was about 2" from dropping the boris bike right across the path out of panic which would have blocked his escape, but alas it wasn't to be, and yet another bike got away in london. Hope you get your rig back fella.
*moral of the story, if you get your bike swiped, shout the right thing and others can help, I'm sure the 5shifty looking asian kids would have done a good number on the one white scawny estate kid. If he'd shouted 'stop thief' 'come back here with my bike' 'hes stolen my bike stop him' 'stop that bike' 'fucking bike theif' I would have probably had him but it wasn't to be :/

Bet it was mine - seen again in same area it was stolen. Seems like the thieves have kept it for themselves? Please all you SE1'ers keep your eyes open - the reward it still there.

Don't torture yourself. Brickman saw a blue lowpro. There's quite a few in London.
I hope you do find it, but don't get your hopes high. -

I lust after this bike (in an honest way) and I so hope, together, we all manage to ftfy.

Gt Zaskar Stolen in Brockley yesterday night.
It was nicked from what i thought was a secure garden, had only just moved so a lot going on - probably should have been more vigilant.
It has black sus forks now - its very distinguishable, black taped handlebars, very stripped back, 19" frame, XT parts. All original apart from the stem and front brake. Had a Krypot mini attached to frame, but not locked.
Had bike since new (16 years)
Reward offered of £100 - Chris 07879 648

Cranfield Road. I think the bike was visible down the alley into the garden and was an opportune theft, although 10 foot railings I thought wrongly would have prevented this. The old adage of 'let your guard down for a second' is always so painfully true, I have been on high security with that bike for years.

Hi everyone,
My bike was stolen in Covent Garden yesterday. V.expensive, iam new to London and so a naive to the crime. Ive learnt the hard way.
Its a Be-one Karma, Ltd edition Carbon MTB.
Its an all black carbon hardtail with red DMR v8 for pedals with road tyres on.
Ive got pictures of me with the bike, proof of purchase (but no frame number).Any advice?

What to do if your bike is stolen will have some advice, get yourself down to Brick Lane on a Sunday (early), and check bikeshd.co.uk regularly. In future I'd also recommend not locking up a two grand bike anywhere you can't see it. Sounds distinctive, if it's being ridden there's a chance it'll be spotted. Here's hoping it turns up sooner rather than later, later rather than never.

This thread is depressing, but having grown up in East London i'm not really shocked (had my fair share of muggings etc).
I just feel we should try to remain motivated when looking to get our bikes back. It's tempting to just give in to never seeing them again, but i would suggest, given resources like this thread, you would be doing everyone else who has lost their bike a disservice by being so pessimistic.
I hope i never need to list anything here!
Cedric, ive got a couple of wheels if you need a set NOW.
Possibly have got a set of forks, will have to check.
