You need carrying capacity. My geared commuter has always Nelson Longflap and the fixie has a rack and a pannier hardwired. If you're real smart, you stuff the bag one day and go without the other. Or maybe you need to buy a touring bike for cloth hauling days? (Are you in the market for excuses for getting more bikes?)
I do it TT style or take the scenic route which has climbs == sweat. But washcloth solution keeps the smell in check, trust me.
