• Hi all!

I crashed into the back of a builder's van last week on Wandsworth bridge, it was my fault, the guy was really nice and he didn't care about the scratch I made on his paint and was more worried if I was OK.

The bike is fine, except that my rear wheel is now out of service, I don't understand why my back wheel got damaged in a front collision, whatever.

As you can see here, the rim did not survive:

So I would need to find the same one so that it matches the front one. It does not need to be NOS, just reasonnably good condition, and affordable...

Mavic MA40 it is, 36 holes, CLINCHER

Next problem is the hub, a campagnolo typo, that did suffer too from the crash and need a new axle, 126mm spacing (or is it 127? not sure... for a 6 speed freewheel, shimano 600) once again, no need for NOS, just something in good condition and straight...

    Thanks for reading!!

  • I might have an old Shimano 600 freewheel hub in the garage.
I'll take a look this afternoon.

  • Thanks, I don't need the freewheel though, only the axle, if you had one, would be great!

    Cheers!

  • OK. I'll see what I've got!

  • you could PM illy, I believe he has some GP4 rims that he has no proven particular use for. And knowing him, he's probably got a campag hub too...

  • i wonder if the spoke or a couple of spokes on the opposite side were too loose.

Tensionned and trued by myself, so yes, this is quite possible...

  • Oops, did not specified it is clincher I need...

  • oh veLLo

  • Bump!

  • BUMP!

    Thanks

  • GP4 were tub rims weren't they? But you want clinchers?? I am about to dismantle some GP4 rimmed wheels so could help you out if you cure my confusion!!

  • MA4 perhaps?

  • just came across this on the bay

    campagnolo axle

  • I have exactly what you want, I've been trying (very half heartedly) to sell them (front and back) for ages, but sadly i's in storage, I'm out of the country and I won't be able to get it before January.

Hopefully you will be up and running before then, but if not, let me know...

  • MA4 perhaps?

Ah yes could be G40''s they looked very much like the GP4 or MA40's which were similar. I do have a pair of MA40's on Campag Record hubs but don't fancy stripping them...

  • I have got a pair of Mavic GP4s on Campagnolo small flange hubs 6 speed block and tubs you can have the pair for £65 plus postage

  • Sorry I would like to repair that wheel, I just need the rim, and it has to be clincher.

    Thanks thought!

Sorry just noticed that... yes indeed, it's not GP4 I need but MA40...

    Apologies for the confusion...

I'm using another set of wheel on that bike at the moment, if I have not found what I need in January, I'll come back to you...

  • As useless as it sounds, I gave away a set of MA40 before moving down from Cardif... Always wanted to rebuild the wheel, but in the end was just too much to carry. Free bump and hope you find some soon!
