You're better off buying a 15 year old Marin or similar for the same sort of money.
That's what you or I might do if we wanted an MTB based beater, but then we already have the skills and tools to sort out any issues on a 15 year old second hand bike. I don't know about you, but the contents of my cycle toolbox cost about 5 times what most people are prepared to spend on a bike. Obviously the B'twin would be nicer with an Aheadset and an alloy stem and microadjust seatpost, but all those little tweaks add up and they are already being quite adventurous putting it out there against similarly priced BSOs which have 18 gears and suspension.
