  • Its an easy route.

Straight out to Epping, you don't have to do the High Beach turn if you don't want to , turn R for N weald as you leave Epping, the head north through N Weald. Once you leave N Weald you go straight across the Talbot ( the pub ) roundabout and follow the signs for Matching Green.

The Farm Shop is to the east of the Talbot roundabout on the Ongar road, it's about 200 m from the roundabout. The Talbot is the one you went round and round on.

On the way back you do need to look out for the tricky R turn to the Waterworks Roundabout where you have to cross lanes to get back on the road to Whipps X.

BTW , the Crass used to live in a farmhouse @ N Weald; I understand that the Crass are now " cool", god help us ....

  • Great ride. Low turnout.

  • I wanted to come but didn't want to get up until 11, sorry.

Did it on my own this afternoon and managed to miss the rain which was lucky.

Realised when I got to Matching what time it was, so didn't stop on the way back, just went for it all the way. Helped with my average.

I noticed on the map there is a village near Matching Green called Matching Tye =)

After the recent Brighton ride controversy I've got proof...

  • No show from me! Sorry even got up in time too!
How many did it in the end?
Great idea this thread though, will keep checking for future sundays.

  • Would a regular, though not weekly, ride be of interest to members?

  • Yes!

I used to get out every week with friends in the north, loved it.

  • Yes, I'll be up for that..

  • Another vote for regular weekend rides. got to keep the miles up over winter.

  • Yes. But not too fast!

  • Why don't you lot set up an LFGSS "club run" you could meet at the same spot every week at 10am on Sundays.

    Would probably be quite popular.

I'd be willing to lead a few rides, but don't want the responsibility of organising the whole thing.

  • My proposal is a regular meet some where in East London and then ride out

At work and busy , so I ll post more later.

I am riding this Sunday and would be happy to meet people @ Whipps X again, but I need to be back by 12 as I have things to do .

  • I actually cough driven past a couple of yous on your way back ;-)

Can't believe this doesn't happen already!

Would do if I were in London.
